It is shocking. And I think it becomes a wider problem when so many 'ordinary' men, with partners, children, jobs etc, are doing this. It means the bar for male behaviour becomes so low ... 'well, at least he's never drugged me'. I've noticed on a few threads recently when someone criticises men more generally there are some posters who come on and say 'men are responsible for almost all historic scientific achievements etc'. Well, yes, but only because they blocked women from being involved. Who knows how different things would be if science had been led by women from the start? But also, I do sometimes wonder how on earth did men achieve all these great things when so many of them now really are total duds? Have men lost their way? I'm sure the proliferation of porn via the internet doesn't help. But honestly when I look around in my life it is women keeping things going in every sphere. It even starts at school where pretty much the only thing the boys do is football while the girls are on committees, getting involved, getting awards. Obviously there are some boys too, just as with the men, but it feels like in almost every area in society now women are outshining men. Is it because we had to learn to beat men on their own terms to be allowed to do stuff? I know men have always been violent including against women but these groups of men working together to carry out extreme abuse, is it just it is more reported? Or is there more of it? Is it because they don't take on the responsibilities women do ie childcare, caring, volunteering etc so they have all this free time to fill and can't figure out what else to do with it? Are they really that limited? And how can any if these men think what they've done is acceptable? It involved lengthy planning and collaboration, major premeditation with plenty of time to realise it was wrong.
