... The Statutory Independent Inquiry into Grooming Gangs, which will be chaired by Baroness Anne Longfield CBE, will compel individuals and institutions to explain what they "did or did not do to protect children from being sexually abused", the organisation said.

The review will also examine if changes have been made in places where there have been past reviews, such as Oxford and Rotherham.

In a letter to stakeholders, inquiry organisers said the first set of hearings would focus on government departments, the police, the Crown Prosecution Service, councils and the NHS.

It said despite 800 recommendations being identified by the inquiry, there had been "significant inconsistency" in how these recommendations have been implemented.

A statement said the "experiences of victims and survivors in those areas will be at the heart of these investigations". ...

Good.
I hope the enquiry ends kanns rule of London and finally puts his lies of "theres no grooming gangs in London" to bed. I honestly believe that man belongs in jail for continuing to cover it up

How many years will the enquiry take?

If the first set of hearings would focus on government departments, the police, the Crown Prosecution Service, councils and the NHS sadly I think it will take for every.

And lots of buck passing.

Not sure why it has to be an enquiry in public.

I think there should be a sort super snatch squad turning up unannounced at these various institutions who have the complete right to see all documentation.

And balance that against personal statements of the exploited women and girls.

The enquiry is scheduled to report by Spring 2029.

Remember Sadiq Khan when asked by Susan Hall whether there were grooming gangs involved in the Capital. "What's a grooming gang, I'm not familiar with that term, please explain what a grooming gang means". Slimey dangerous man.

I think he was trying to trap her into saying it was Muslim men. He could then try ask her why abuse by one ethnicity of perpetrator should be afforded more attention than another. It was completely disingenuous.

Yes it was infuriating what he was up to.. it showed him up to be a man with no empathy towards the women and children who are caught up in these gangs.

I’m very pleased to see Oldham and Bradford. Parts of these towns operate like the Wild West.

I looked at Bluesky and the only conversation about grooming gangs is that anyone who talks about grooming gangs is a racist.

There are now more BBC journalists actively on Bluesky than X.

They still don't get it! They will never accept that by shutting down discussion this criminal abuse was given an open door to operate under the nose of the authorities.

StickyPits · 25/06/2026 09:03

And let’s face it, the systematic rape of girls was not the only criminal activity that has operated in plain sight. From minor infractions like parking offences to drugs running, the authorities have turned away from it all.

mrshoho · 25/06/2026 09:22

Agree @StickyPits . Still happening. The reason being given is that it's for the benefit of community cohesion. Two tier policing is not a racist accusation. It is very much evident in my area of London.

StickyPits · 25/06/2026 09:25

Yes @mrshohothe situation in my small northern town is terrible. The area I grew up in as a kid is now a no go areas for the police and the people in that area are openly hostility to anyone from outside that community. It’s not a safe place for women at all.

Women are absolutely not safe in London - slimy Sadiq 's response is posters on every train /tube in London telling women they should intervene in male on male aggression - and to be "kind" - he really doesn't see women as human beings, just "support animals"
