Trans activist vs Stonewall - Stonewall objects to them breaking boundaries

Women of Surrey

A trans activist walked into Stonewall’s offices today and read a letter demanding that Kezia Dugdale and Stonewall publicly condemn
jk_rowling

Stonewall’s response?

They reportedly called the police.

Noticeably the trans activist was being incredibly restrained compared to some of their usual behaviour. Still Stonewall felt the authorities had to step in to assert their boundaries.

Hilarious!

Stonewall seem to be pretty much buggered.

First they betrayed the LGB & now the T don’t like them either.

Serves them right.

To be fair, the T don't like anybody at all. They even fight bitterly among themselves over who actually is T or not 😅

Regarding the letter: between the outright lies (no, JKR was not sued by "multiple cis athletes for bullying", and no, there are no women being harrassed in bathrooms because of what she said), and the utterly empty demands and threats, it's impossible to take anything this TRA says seriously, and I'm surprised Stonewall bothered to call the police instead of just going, "That's nice, dear. Care for a cup of tea?"

My favourite bit, mind you, has to be, and I quote: "Stonewall should not exist for profit". Oh, sweetie...

It amazes me that the T still seem to like the fox killer.

Oh, you're right, I forgot about him. I do wonder how long it will be before some TRAs get tired of his eternally empty promises to finally, this time it's for real, take down the ("cis" wo)man! Probably when he loses The Final Battle (whichever that is) and has to admit that the law is the law and it has to be followed? That's one thing the TRA in the OP criticise Kezia Dugdale for saying.

BridgetPhillipsonIsACowardlyJobsworth · Yesterday 06:57

Hilarious that their first thought was to call the police! So, they can dish it out but they can't take it, just like bullies the world over. Reap what you sow.

It may be that some of the evidence that Stonewall lied to everyone about the law is starting to sink in. A lot of activists don't seem to be the sharpest tools in the box, but even they will have to acknowledge eventually that they have been had.

This is the clearest sign so far that I have seen that Stonewall are heading off in a different direction, and they may not be taking the activists with them. It's a very small thing, but I did notice that none of their new merchandise for Pride this year uses the "progress" flag.

Well, Stonewall is one of the "parents" of these activists. I wonder how long it will be before they get a visit from Bash Back?

Defund transphobes.

😂😂
Half of the TRAs end up being transphobic themselves at some point, whether it's born in the wrong body or not the "right" gender.

I see someone in the comments calls her a 'posh loon'. I'm not going to disagree. But I am quite impressed that she's reading from paper and not from her phone, which is what most of them seem to do. Also as someone else noted, just how empty is that office? Maybe it's true that Stonewall is on the path to extinction.

The TRAs are starting to turn on the good law project already, it seems that their most recent loss against the EHRC interim guidance was a loss to many for most

It amazes me that the T still seem to like the fox killer.

They are getting fed up of him as they are realising he isn't achieving anything for them for the money they donate.

CassOle · Yesterday 08:46

Highlight of the letter reading regarding the EA2010 clarification: 'Kezia states, "Well, it's the law and should be respected."'

How sad for the TRAs.

No animal lovers among them though? Or maybe they don’t want to comment on that in case it counts as kink shaming.

Absolutely!

My stand out moment was when they said something like - we know that protecting trans rights isn't profitable - or similar.

I mean it is obviously a lot less profitable than it was, but my goodness it has been a gravy train for so many while it lasted. All that training, all those flags, all the policy writing and Stonewall award schemes... cha-ching!

Whenever I've heard one of these blokes speak they're always tirribly posh.

Daleksatemyshed · Yesterday 10:10

It's sad really, the TRAs so want to believe it's about being allies they don't seem to have noticed the money changing hands. Not so much money now judging by how many pride committees are shutting down

Thank you so much for the Nitter link, I'm not on X and would have missed all those wonderful comments - including one from the admirable Róisín MurphySmile

Do the TRAs really believe that when Stonewall dumped LGB in favour of the T it was because they cared about them, not because they needed a new income stream?

Thingybob · Yesterday 10:23

My takeaway from the video is how ridiculous it is that the countries number one LGBT charity with the ear of the government and policy makers have such a shit building and had just three staff in there supposedly working.

An ordinary high street charity shop would have more activity than Stonewall Headquarters.

I think, and hope, they will be folding before the end of the year.

The most activist TRAs are extremely self-centered, and Stonewall played into that, so yes, I can see them believing that Stonewall was and would remain forever their good little attack dog.

Ereshkigalangcleg · Yesterday 10:34

What is the point of Stonewall doing a hostage video “condemning” JKR exactly? Talk about Rowling Derangement Syndrome.

This is something I have noticed, but then I had depression and I was very self-centered and it changed when I recovered.

Stonewall's purpose was to obtain marriage equality I think and now that is legalised they had to find a new campaign. You can tell that it is a bunch of gay men because they recycled the gay rights slogans of "be your authentic self" when that is the complete opposite of what trans people actually want.

I know I get sidetracked by details and a bit pedantic, but it still really bugs me when people call her JK (R)OW-ling and not Roe-ling. I need to get out more I think...

But that’s how her name is pronounced. I saw a tweet from JKR quite recently stating that it’s Rowling to rhyme with bowling.
