Green councillors ‘pushed lies to allow trans women in single-sex spaces’

IwantToRetire · 14/06/2026 02:29

The Green Party has wrongly advised its councillors that trans women are still allowed in single-sex spaces.

The Association of Green Councillors (AGC), which provides support to the party’s councillors, has issued guidance to its members stating that trans women do not have to be excluded from single-sex spaces.

But this goes against the code of practice from the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC).

Critics have now accused the Greens of “lying about what the law says”, raising concerns about how Green-run local authorities will manage single-sex spaces in public buildings.

Campaigners warned that Green Party councillors could even put their local authority at risk of legal action if they followed the advice.

Sadly I'm not surprised by this, the Green Party in it's current formation is wholly a product of postmodernism. They represent what the world will be like after they've destroyed the current modern world, behold Utopia.

Are you scared yet?

Igmum · 14/06/2026 08:17

Oh FFS 🤦‍♀️. Once again women are required to go to court to get their basic rights.

Grammarnut · 14/06/2026 12:32

That's correct, trans people are not denied access to single sex spaces, they are denied access to spaces belonging to the sex opposite to theirs (though there is an exemption for TiFs whose appearance may alarm other women, who are therefore suffered to enter men's spaces; there is no such exemption for TiMs).

RedToothBrush · 14/06/2026 12:35

Then they are liable and will get sued at some point. Or public services will. If you donate to the green party understand where your money will go: on legal cases.

Unfortunately the headline and lede don't accurately describe what the AGC is quoted to have written later on in the article:

The advice said: “The Supreme Court ruling concerns a narrow area of law within the Equalities Act 2010 – specifically regarding the protected characteristic of sex in this context means birth sex.

“It creates no new laws and the [sic] does not mean commonly understood ‘single-sex’ facilities for women must exclude trans women.”

In the olden days, the Green Party was about environmentalism, not gender identity politics.

FFS.

I don't see what's wrong with the headline

"does not mean commonly understood ‘single-sex’ facilities for women must exclude trans women.”

This is a lie.

No such thing as The Equalities Act 2010. Hope that helps you utter muffins.

I'm terrified. Goddess help us if they ever get into power. Lunatic fringe the lot of them, their leader feels sorry that a male terrorist was sent to prison for breaking a female police officer 'sback with a sledgehammer when she was doing her job. Scarey loons the lot of them, with no care for the environment at all.

FFS.

This.

This should be the Greens moment - everything that they warned about 30 years ago is happening. They should be leading the way to combat climate change. If the Greens were actually - well - Green and had good well thought out environmental policies I would vote for them.

Instead they are too busy trying to make sure that men get to claim to be special.

This is a lie.

It's ambiguous as it doesn't say which single-sex spaces. One has to read further for the clarification that these are female single-sex spaces that the Greens think males are still allowed to use.

I have historically always voted green for this reason, and now I have no idea what to do at the next election. I want to support a party that is going to actively address things like climate change but it's getting harder and harder to look past all the gender ideology stuff that they seem to be doing more and more...

ArabellaScott · 14/06/2026 14:48

The Greens have been infiltrated and destroyed by entryists.

The good nature of many Green members was cynically manipulated and taken advantage of. Many have been expelled, suspended, or left because of despair.

Party now presided over by opportunists and an arch crook who is there purely for his own enrichment, who has made ridiculous populist promises without a single hoot given for the damage done. Even Farage has, as far as I'm aware, not gone as far as decrying violent terrorists being jailed.

It is now an actively damaging force that causes more harm than good.

You cannot do politics based on vibes, it doesn't work.

Charitably, some members are just very, very naive.

Well, that's different and also wrong. The SC judgement specifically excluded transwomen (men) from female single sex spaces and made clear that this has always been the law i.e. no, the law has not changed, transwomen (men) have always been excluded. They can't read.
I wouldn't vote Green anyway, but the fact they appear to be semi-literate should warn anyone not to vote for them. Possibly they learned to read using whole word - which says that you make meaning from the text rather than actually understanding what the text is saying (extension of queer theory, who knew it!).

I take your point but I think headlines are often framed in this confusing way ie “trans people banned from female sport” etc.

Rednorth · 14/06/2026 15:11

Are we really suprised?! Let's not forget that the LEADER of the Green Party had a business where he claimed to be able to hypnotise women into having bigger breasts... Who in their right (well adjusted, ethical, left leaning) mind would vote for someone like that, ffs.

They're a degenerates paradise. Can't be suprised when the dengerates degenerate 🤷

IwantToRetire · 14/06/2026 16:58

I was taken aback to find the Greens have an Association of Green Councillors! I assumed all decisions would be the subjective feelings of each councillor!

But of course being the first time that many Greens have got any where near actual decision making and finding out what being a Councillor actually entails, you would like to think this is a good idea. And somewhere newbie councillors can turn to for advice and guidance.

But they cant even manage something as basic as that.

I wonder what this associations advice was to all the Bristol Councillors who were so overcome with the vapours at finding other people didn't think they same as them, they ran away from carrying out their duties as councillors as a meeting to instead virtue signal their political correctness.

Sigh.

'Pushing lies'?
What else can you do when your arguments are based on untruths about people changing sex, people being born in the wrong sex, people, having a female brain but a male body....

If they pushed the truth, TRAs would argue themselves out of existence!

Fixing the planet is hard.

But demonising and bullying women is easy.

So in the absence of any chance you may once elected effect any meaningful improvements to the planet or even the UK economy, bullying women is a rational strategy to prove to your voters you are a good progressive person who they should continue to vote for.
