Green councillor forced to study Equality Act after cancelling authors

A Green councillor who compared gender-critical authors to Holocaust deniers has been forced to study the Equality Act.

Helen Elliott-Boult, a Green councillor for Stroud district council (SDC), justified the cancellation of an event featuring two authors critical of transgender ideology, set to take place at Stroud Brewery in the Cotswolds.

The event was cancelled because of fears for “the safety of members of our trans community”.

Council officers have mandated that Ms Elliott-Boult attend training, reinforcing that gender-critical views are protected by law in the UK.

Ms Elliott-Boult justified the cancellation of the speaking event in the interest of “inclusion”, and compared de-platforming the gender-ideology sceptics to cancelling a Holocaust denier.

The council mandated free-speech training following a complaint by Jo Bartosch and Robert Jessel, the cancelled authors, who had been set to speak at the brewery about Pornocracy, their new book critiquing porn’s influence on society.

Well, that’s hopefully, but I’m not convinced that the training will make much difference in her views.

“Ms Elliott-Boult responded in a statement, saying: “The complaint was resolved under the informal resolution provisions. I will be completing the same SDC councillor training as all SDC councillors. At no point did I make negative comments about gender-critical views.””

She is not going to learn a single thing is she?

Hopefully she'll learn that her views are increasingly outdated and won't be tolerated. It'll take a while though - the cult brainwashing runs deep.

I’d have thought the Greens would actually be quite up for an event with Holocaust deniers, given their questionable attitudes to October 7.

Daleksatemyshed · 14/06/2026 07:01

She won't have changed her views but at least now she knows she'll be held accountable in future.

Tallisker · 14/06/2026 07:29

She’s like those old blokes at work in the 80s who go through diversity training but still continue to be sexist and racist until it costs them something. How retro.

ItsCoolForCats · 14/06/2026 08:09

What happened regarding the venue, Stroud Brewery? I thought legal action was being taken as they were quite explicit that they cancelled the event because of the authors GC views.

They’ve submitted a SAR to the brewery who have said it will take until July for them to reply to it. 🙄

SwirlyGates · 14/06/2026 11:20

Haha, that's a good one. Whether it changes her mind or not, it's nice to see her made to attend training - especially after all the bollocks trans-ally training that so many people have been made to sit through at work.

That's normal tbf - you have one calendar month to respond to a SAR

She should read Pornocracy, that might just jolt her.

And being a Holocaust denier is allowed, I think. We have no laws against denying it. The Nazis were such assiduously careful bureaucrats it is impossible to deny.
Ms. Eliot-Bould also obviously doesn't know when she has used a metaphor.

XylaPhoniq · 14/06/2026 13:58

I was going to attend this event and was bitterly disappointed when it was cancelled. I'm glad something is being done as a consequence of the cancellation even though it may make no difference

So she has been told to 'educate herself', as we so often are Smile

I know the trans activists have abused and overused this word but it really is just 100% projection isn’t it.

bigoted
/ˈbɪɡətɪd/
To be bigoted means to hold strong, unreasonable beliefs while displaying utter intolerance toward anyone who has different opinions or comes from a different background. It describes someone who is prejudiced, close-minded, and obstinately devoted to their own views.

Just to clarify they had to ask for an extension until July. They failed to respond by the initial deadline.

Ahh, apologies - I hadn't seen that
