While the rest of the world moves forward, Australia hits rock bottom

An article bringing some light into why things are so bad in Australia. In my home state some parents have joined forces with trans rights organisations to actually sue the state government (in effect) because the government has temporarily banned the unproven "treatment" for gender disphoria, otherwise known as socially transmitted delusion about being born in the wrong body. This government took this decision after evidence that young children were being prescribed hormones to block puberty without the promised due diligence and actual care required, from within the public health system. This treatment remains available in the private system but apparently it is something that taxpayers should fund. Not to mention that actual health care in the public system usually comes with a waitlist, so genuine health issues will potentially need to move over. Unbelievably, these parents are actually fighting to be allowed to harm thier own and others children with a treatment pathway that has been shown to be ineffective, harmful and irreversible. These parents might deserve sympathy for the position they find themselves in, but my sympathy is running low. Interesting also that this is an opt-out class action.

I'm pretty sure Canada is still lower so. xD (I live in Canada) At least your gov tried to temporarily ban it? I'm not sure that idea even exists here.

Thanks for the link, it sounds bad but I notice it's an article from a Q publication, it could be they're just amping it up, like the bunch of Drama Lama's they are, and 'hundreds' could in fact be a couple of families.
The Queensland's government decision was based on medical science, so if it does get to court the unhinged will have to have argue on a medical science basis and we know they don't have any science whatsoever to back up their rubbish claims.
So the law suit could be a good thing in the long run, because when they lose, it could be the first loose stone that starts the landslide that sweeps away this batshittery. 🤞

Thanks for the silver lining @TheywontletmehavethenameIwant
The article is from a Q website but I found it on another that I didn't link to because of a pay wall. That is a good point about having to argue on a scientific basis. I just can't get my head around parents who would do this - Who argues for harming kids?

I think it’s desperation OldGC. The professionals we are taught to trust (doctors, teachers, counsellors) tell parents their children will kill them selves if they don’t transition. The children themselves are deeply unhappy and often depressed (this doesn’t happen to happy children) and the parents are trying to fix things.

My DD went through a trans phase post lockdown (she has ASD) and as a card carrying Terf I can tell you that trying to find counsellors and appropriate care that did not push her down the rabbit hole was a bit like being a British airman shot down in occupied France in the Second World War. How do you find the sceptics who do proper therapy without outing them to their professional bodies and making social services interested in you? Meanwhile mainstream media is entrenching this ideology even more firmly in your child and telling them anyone who doesn’t instantly affirm is evil.

I can absolutely see how parents told that this is a miracle cure helping everyone to live happily ever after might go for it.

Fortunately my DD is now out of that phase and in to make up and boyfriends. She escaped unmedicated and with all her bits but it was awful and I pity any child and any parent going through it.
