Why is women’s health content being censored online as adult material?

In March 2026, the Independent reported a warning from over 600 women’s health leaders that social media platforms were systematically censoring medically accurate content on topics such as menstruation, fertility and menopause, often misclassifying such content as “adult” material and limiting its reach. Campaigners argued that such “systemic bias” reinforced stigma, restricted access to vital information, and had the potential to harm health outcomes by discouraging people from seeking help or advice.

Apparently there's been a debate.
A Westminster Hall debate has been scheduled for 1.30pm on 21 May on Censorship of women’s health and wellbeing content online. The debate is sponsored by Emily Darlington MP.

Doesn't surprise me at all. Women = porn. Anything to do with women's bodies = porn. Also it reminds TiMs they aren't women.

a) Man appropriates female thing. Man turns it into something foul. Formerly normal female thing gets censored.
b) Men think women's biology is icky. Women's biology gets censored.
c) Men forget women's biology exists. Only porn exists. Women's biology gets censored.
d) Women's things and biology are censored because men feel like censoring it.

Honestly - you dont know whether it is just brain dead incels doing this, or entrenched MRAs who think women should just STFU.

I wonder if men's health issues are also branded like this.

Good grief. Back in the day when filters chucked out ‘rude’ words such as, er, ‘breast’ and therefore censored breast cancer info, it was largely accidental due to idiotic lack of thought. That surely can’t be the case now.
