Trans paedophile spared jail despite possession of hundreds of videos of severe child abuse (TW: some details within)

This might be quite a disturbing and rage-inducing one.

I saw that that this man did not receive a custodial sentence after downloading and uploading videos of babies being raped over a two-year period (so very much not a one-off).

I've filled in the form here and would ask that any of you that see fit do so too (and pass it on to other feminists and anyone who isn't too fond of paedophiles getting away with their crimes):
www.gov.uk/ask-crown-court-sentence-review

Relevant details to fill in:
Lucy Dean
Sentenced 27/05/2026
Chester Crown Court

Inquiries showed Dean had 306 images in the most serious category A, including 224 videos, some of which showed babies in severe distress being sexually assaulted. (and hundreds of other 'less severe' images)

This man gets off to tiny babies being violently raped. Hundreds of videos. He WILL re-offend. And he's free to hang out in women's spaces because of his claimed trans identity.

It doesn't take a genius to know that if there is clear evidence against you it really pays to "own up" and show remorse. Was probably advised to do so by his solicitor. That private counselling has more than paid for itself, hasn't it?

Dominoodles · 06/06/2026 16:05

This is infuriating to read

Toffeefudgecaramel · 06/06/2026 16:05

And I agree that a bit of private counselling (probably curtailed now he's been sentenced) won't stop him re-offending. But he'll be more careful next time.

Dragonasaurus · 06/06/2026 16:13

Has anyone done any work to see what sentence a non-trans man would be likely to get? I agree that a trans id makes this man more dangerous not less…

Silvertips · 06/06/2026 16:17

Men like this shouldn't be pandered to in court and have their delusion and perversions indulged by the court. Nor should they be free to essentially carry on as they were with a slap on the wrist.

UtopiaPlanitia · 06/06/2026 16:32

From reading court reports in newspapers over the last number of years, when it comes to sexual offending it seems to have become a trend for men to claim a trans identity as mitigation for their criminal behaviour and it often works in reducing sentences from custodial to non-custodial. Judges often make sympathetic remarks in their summing up and this sympathy benefits the offender in terms of a reduced sentence. This is happening worldwide not just in the UK

When it comes to men like this, the justice system seems blind to the fact that they are often obsessive and incapable of viewing children in the way normal people do, they cannot be rehabilitated and will likely offend again.

I don't understand why seeking out and viewing videos of criminal sex offences committed against babies and children is not recognised in law as the dangerous warning sign that it is. There should be no mitigation allowed for these crimes.

ScrollingLeaves · 06/06/2026 16:37

After reading about that loathsome man on Reddux I saw the articles about some other horrible trans/paedophiles. (Germany looks like a particularly encouraging place for them to live.)

Ramblingnamechanger · 06/06/2026 16:51

Still calling him She in the press report. Why?

GeneralPeter · 06/06/2026 17:21

I think this merits a custodial sentence.

But actually, rather than a standard prison sentence, I think we need basically gated holiday camps where we make your life as comfortable and normal as we can manage, but you can't leave ever.

daysofpearlyspencer · 06/06/2026 18:10

@unbridledfemalerage this may get better traction in AIBU, maybe get more signatures as did the petition against the sentencing of the team rapists last week when posted in the general boards.

I can only comment on a case that I know about personally which was dealt with at the same court as in the OP.

Not trans, but was my doctor, who had over 17,000 images:

https://www.chesterstandard.co.uk/news/16062207.prominent-chester-gp-caught-almost-17-000-indecent-images-children/

Lucy Dean, in the OP, got sentenced to 16 months in jail, suspended for two years, along with requirements to undertake 200 hours of unpaid work.

Dr Bland got sentenced to a total of 20 months imprisonment, suspended for two years and was made subject to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.

Chester Crown Court obviously doesnt like to offend sex offenders. Hardly surprising given they also employed my rapist as a court security guard despite, at that time of employment, him having two convictions for raping children and one conviction for murder.

FriedGold32 · 06/06/2026 19:41

I read a story the other day about a guy who got 3 years in prison for selling USB sticks so people could watch football.

Sorry convictions for murder and rape and wasn’t in jail?

Sorry convictions for murder and rape and wasn’t in jail?

He served no time for the first rape. Went to a Borstal after the second rape. Did go to prison for the murder, but played the system. He managed to get transferred from prison to Rampton after persuading them he was mentally ill. Then he persuaded them he was no longer mentally ill and was subsequently released! Then raped me.

Got to love the British justice system!I

ETA: he did eventually get sentenced to 13 years for the crimes against me and you'll be glad to hear died whilst in prison!

Well they have to prioritise those prison spaces don't they! You can't have someone selling dodgy usb sticks being allowed to roam the streets!

LordEmsworthsGirlfriend · 06/06/2026 20:08

Well, Judge Rowland just effectively announced to all teenage boys and girls that there is no penalty for rape, didn't he. We don't have a justice system at all.

ProfessorRedshoeblueshoe · 06/06/2026 20:38

Interesting - it didn't say the doctor was struck off, so I assume he wasn't. So he gets to keep his big fat pension.

What happened to you as a child was horrific. I remember your story from a few years ago.💐💐It us good that heinous psychopath paedophile died in prison so he could never come out and do it again -as no doubt he would have.

I wonder how he was allowed to become a doctor after borstal for the second rape?

There was a fitness to practice hearing and he lost his GP registration. I hope he didn't get his pension!

You have to wonder what these men actually have to do to get an actual prison sentence for possession of child sexual abuse images?

But it's not the court system favouring trans identifying men, although there's that many of them that hit the press that it feels like it, they let most of the degenerate paedophiles serve suspended sentences.

Oh Boily. I am so sorry for you.

It is an 'interesting' feature of English law that crimes against the person have always carried a far lower tariff than crimes against property.

GenderlessVoid · 07/06/2026 07:46

@Boiledbeetle I'm so sorry about your horrific abuse. I'm glad he died in prison.

I can't believe that your doctor had 17000 CSA images/videos and still got a non-custodial sentence.

It also included 45 of the most serious category A, of which 11 were video files up to an hour long of children being raped and abused. . . .

Police analysts reported that there were many more files on his computer but with almost 17,000 images discovered they stopped searching, Mr Hussey said.
Richard Pratt QC, defending, said Bland was of previous “outstanding” character and was highly regarded in the community and within his profession.

Who cares if he's highly regarded in the community and within his profession? How does this in any way mitigate him facilitating child abuse and exploitation?? Not a few files, but almost 17k files when they stopped searching because there were so many!

It's outrageous that so many judges and community members are willing to excuse vile CSA, especially when highly regarded men are involved.

re: Lucy Dean, the man described in the OP

The police found more than 1,000 images of child pornography, 306 images in the most serious category A, including 224 videos, some of which showed babies in severe distress being sexually assaulted. Officers also found 173 images in category B, including 53 videos and 525 images in category C, of which 48 were videos, as well as six prohibited images of a child, images that were said to not be actual children.

“There were images of babies being sexually abused, some clearly in distress. This is serious offending of its type. The case is aggravated by the very young age of some of those depicted in the images, their distress and the fact there is a large collection of moving content.''

Dean faced three years in jail under sentencing guidelines after admitting one charge of possession of prohibited images of a child and three charges of making indecent images of children, in category A, B and C between August 2023 and June 2025.

He downloaded videos of babies being raped and the most he could have been handed is three years. What. The. Actual. Fuck. Then he didn't even get a custodial sentence. This is the law saying that raping babies is a minor misdeed, not a horrific depravity.

I'm so angry at the justice system.
