Take Unison, which has around 1.3million members, the majority of them women. Its current general secretary, Andrea Egan, was elected with just 58,579 votes – around 4.2 per cent of eligible voters. Which means many women will be unaware that their current union leader is actively campaigning against their sex-based rights.

Maybe someone should email AE the facts above and politely point out that as 3/4 of the membership are women she should stop actively fighting to have their rights removed, even if her niece is 'trans'.

I work in a Unison branch so I’ve emailed [email protected] to ask which law they’re suggesting should be changed and if they’re planning an equality impact assessment. Strangely they haven’t answered yet. I only wanted them to clarify before I email all our members for their feedback.
I do hope they get lots and lots of feedback although they seemed to have hidden most of the comments on the Facebook and bluecry posts and turned of replies altogether on twitter 🤷‍♀️

Agree. But heroine is the word and has been erased under pretext of equality. But not having 'heroine' erases women - part of the foundation work to remove woman as a sex-based term and replace it with gender?

Delegates at UNISON's local government conference passed a landmark motion titled 'defending trans, non-binary and gender diverse rights in local government workplaces', with passionate speeches drawing repeated applause from the conference floor and not a single vote cast against the motion.

Speakers warned that if the EHRC's proposals become embedded in law, the consequences for trans and gender diverse workers across local government could be profound. "If this guidance is allowed to harden into law, the consequences for our members will be severe," delegates heard.

It continues to be heartening how little support the regressive "gender critical" movement has any time these issues are actually put to a vote or consultation.

Speaking of the Greens, their membership and electoral success has absolutely rocketed since they've taken an openly trans-supportive stance, can you manage to twist that as proof that everyone secretly supports you too?
