Anti trans organisations exerting powerful influence over media and politics, new analysis reveals - Amnesty UK

Amnesty International UK’s latest analysis exposes the scale of anti-trans influence in UK media and maps the rapid rise of anti-trans organisations.

  • Four UK newspapers published 17,000 articles on ‘trans issues’ in five years, averaging 9 articles a day
  • Reporting overwhelmingly excludes trans voices and amplifies anti-trans perspectives
  • ‘Trans issues’ elevated to top-tier political debate, despite low public salience

Posting more as a point of information as no doubt this will be endlessly quoted to show how trans voices are never heard or amplified in UK media!

They just don't get it, do they. It's not anti trans it's pro women!

EmpressaurusKitty · 26/05/2026 19:49

I still can’t believe Amnesty are stupid enough to think I AM WHO I SAY I AM is a sensible thing to put on a placard.

It’s a safeguarding nightmare.

soddingspiderseason · 26/05/2026 19:58

I think they realise the jig is up.

@IwantToRetire There's another thread about this, or a similar article, from a few days ago which you might find interesting. It's about halfway down the 2nd page of FWR threads. Sorry I'm too hot to think about how to link to it 😂

3beesinmybonnet · 26/05/2026 20:02

@MrsOvertonsWindow beat me to it while I was busy correcting my SPAG errors

MarieDeGournay · 26/05/2026 20:04

You know the acronym DARVO?
You know it stands for "Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender"?
Well if you're looking for an illustration of the RVO bit, look no further!

Great to know it is being talked about, but part of the reason for starting a thread is that FWR titles get picked up.

Plus for those of us who dont have time to be on FWR 24/7(!) it acts a a sort of news flash.

Though Amnesty making a total fool of themselves probably isn't news.

But would love to see the stats that prove their headline.

I supposed if you only looked at the Telegraph, Times, DM and ?? you could easily prove a trans critical stance. But taken as a whole it is shere nonsense to say they dominate the news media in the UK.

The BBC alone would probably outway the number of articles that are pro trans against all the articles about gender critical voices in a minority of media outlets.

So dishonest and tendentious of them to call these organisations "anti-trans" when in fact they are women's rights organizations - something you'd think Amnesty would be in favor of.

Tooobvious · 26/05/2026 20:31

If it was true, about time! Up tinting recently the "influence" has all been the other way, with organisations in thrall to Stonewall.

Incidentally, does "I am who I say I am" also apply to Rachel Dolezal, the white woman who says she is black, I wonder?

I'm sure it does, and it also applies to Stephonknee Wolscht, a middle aged man who says he's a 6-year-old girl.

"I am who I say I am". Acceptance without exception.

So open minded their brains have fallen out.

If I were to say I am a person who is owed a million quid by Amnesty do you think they'd give it to me. 🤭

The chap who was shot at the Whitehouse a couple of days ago thought he was Jesus.

TheKeatingFive · 26/05/2026 21:13

What the actual fuck happened to Amnesty?

Jimmy Savile said he was a lovely bloke raising money for kids.

And you’d think every child would know the story of Little Red Riding Hood.

Try it - in case the cash bestowed on us by the US far right dries up 😆

CornishDaughteroftheDawn · 27/05/2026 07:37

They really can’t see it can they?

Amnesty, the ‘Human Rights’ organisation, calling for women to lose some basic human rights (previously), now framing women’s rights as ‘anti trans’. That’s going to mess up some ‘oppression’ fetishes for certain men.

However hard they play at being ‘most oppressed’ they will never be as badly treated as women actually are.

RedToothBrush · 27/05/2026 08:30

What is the point in Amnesty, other then to get a badge saying "I support amnesty" and paying amnesty?

Honest question.

I had their number after I donated to them for a number of years and then stopped and they subsequently spent more money for several years on trying to get me to rejoin and donate more money to them.

They do fuck all to help the people they want to draw attention to. It's all hot air.

It was a butter and cynical life lesson that Amnesty taught me.

This campaign is merely just another self serving one.

€370 million a year income

DustyWindowsills · 27/05/2026 09:11

I'm trying to get my head around this stuff – not least because one of my oldest friends seems to believe it, and I'm seeing her next month.

The Amnesty view seems to be that the only possible explanation for the rapid spread of GC beliefs is a campaign funded by shadowy forces. "This is not happening organically."

And yet the core of GC beliefs is that sexual reproduction in humans is binary. We can see with our own eyes that almost all adult humans come in two varieties – the big ones with cocks and the smaller ones with tits. We are taught in childhood that babies are made when one of each type get together and share bodily fluids. Those who study biology formally may learn that it's more complicated, but they also learn that it's true.

Everything else follows from that. If sex is real and immutable, then we shouldn't be telling kids or vulnerable adults that they can change sex. We should tell them bluntly that extreme body modification will make them into a medical experiment for life. If gender incongruence is only in the mind, then we should consider the possibility that some activist demands may arise from disordered thinking. We should push back kindly but firmly, and ensure rights are balanced.

How could any intelligent person think this is some kind of conspiracy funded by sinister forces? Why would that even be necessary?

I would imagine it also applies to Kim Jong-Un.

Very harsh consequences for anyone who might question his image of himself.
