Why is Woman's Hour featuring a man on funding in women's sport?

So typical of Radio 4 So called "womens'hour" to get a man, Alexis Ohanian in to talk about funding in women's sports, the man who co founded Reddit, one of the most misogynist men's rights supporting platforms. The BBC just can't seem to stop trolling women.

Good on him. He did not mention anything about the misogyny on reddit towards women who speak about trans identified males. He clearly knows.

But why would he do that when he's been invited to speak on investment in women's sports?

I get that there is an oblique connect (Reddit - misogyny against GC women - TW in women's sports - funding for women's sports) so I understand where you're coming from, but I think it would have been a stretch to shoehorn the topic in.

Tbf, the people in charge of funding distribution in womens sports are….men.

if you’re an elite athlete, the decision on whether you are funded lies with the performance director of your governing body. There is no requirement to be funded based on performance or results, it is entirely at the discretion of the PD. Even selection to competitions - every single policy I have read has pages of scores and results needed, but there is always the caveat “final selection is at the discretion of the performance director”

sports funding needs a massive overhaul and it needs to be based on definitive criteria. Not funding a 12 year old with no performance history to home school because the man at the top of the food chain has the arrogance to think he can predict the future. Or pulling funding from athletes like eilish mccolgan because she wouldn’t run a certain race coming off an injury that wasn’t her event anyway.

womens sport is a shit show on every level.
