Not sure if I have the stomach to listen.

Might skim the transcript.

Can't believe that I used to think these men knew what they were talking about back in the days of Brexit threads.

Its such a cop out though.
I have a trans family member and both of us are GC.
Because both of us recognise that gender stereotypes are sexist, biology is innate and sex is not changeable.

Agreed. Just thought it was a good example of that point HJ made to Peter Boghossian about parent's who won't/can't ever go back on it.

1984Now · 21/05/2026 14:13

Dunt's obsession with the word c**t disbars any respect for him from me.
And Lynskey is absolutely one of Helen Joyce's described "in top deep to ever recover" clan.
And they think they're the ones to dissemble JKR as a radicalised voice of hate?
Ian "How To Be An Illiberal" Dunt indeed.

I just got a flashback to an old Goon Show episode about ' The Japanese Army in That Tree'. Ian and Dorian might still be up in That Tree , waiting for a message from the Emperor. But I think Corporal Jones might sneak off saying something like ' I'm just going to get help....'

PS I had the Goons on an LP. Not quite old enough to have heard the original broadcast.

The Goons can be a lovely mental restorative when the world is being ridiculous. You can hear lots of Goon Show episodes at the Internet Archive:

As for Dunt and Lynskey, two more middle class male bores I have yet to experience - their self image is very much predicated on them being 'good guys' and therefore, because they're 'good guys' they believe that whatever they think is true is good. They can't cope with the idea that they still retain sexist attitudes towards women so they transmute those feelings about women into the idea that there are just some irredeemably nasty women who don't deserve the support of 'good guys' like them.

I enjoyed this review of the podcast by Euan mccolm on twitter:

I enjoy a good dollop of pathos as much as the next self-loathing prick but two middle-aged men making a podcast about what a wrong ‘un Jo Rowling is in 20-fucking-26 is too much, even for me. I could only cringe harder if they’d done the whole fucking thing as a rap.

And the irony is their anger with her belies the fact she's won the argument and is the classic liberal in the room versus two ultra illiberals who've so lost the argument they have to resort to backbiting.

Thanks ! Also the Goon Show : -

' How many sexes are there?'
'Two'
' It's not enough I say , go out and get some more!'

Spike was prescient ....

I've just started watching this and now realise I've completely mixed up Ian Dunt with someone else. I was thinking he was the older guy who beat somebody up with a flag on a seafront.

Ian Dunt has been complaining on Bluesky this morning about the EHRC guidance, demonstrating yet again his abysmal understanding of FWS.

Just reading him, and his supportive comments, including the mandatory anime beta men cosplaying as female loudmouths.
It's a literal fault line in liberal thought and politics.
A whole group who bang on about lack of evidence and wishful thinking on anything and everything...except trans ideology, a pursuit that has more wishful thinking and lack of evidence than the flat Earthers, Icke's lizards and Royals, astrology.

The Irish border analogy is an interesting one. Long after it became very clear the legal issue was a complicated one, people from the UK, including politicians and public servants were continuing a narrative of - 'the EU is on the other side of the Channel, we can manage our own ports' - ignoring the 310 mile stretch where you can stand with one foot in the UK and one in the EU.

Reality is irrelevant to them.

Off topic, but I think it was more a case of they always knew the border would be in the Irish sea, with NI on the outside, but they couldn't actually say that out loud.

That’s Iain Dale, LBC presenter.

You wouldn't know that the FWS ruling only affected GRCs and that for everyone else the law was made clear 4 years ago.

Whether or not any poster on this board would object, he could have spent the last 4 years campaigning for more unisex provision, but instead he seems to favour a Trumpian fantasy solution.

Thank you for posting. Worth reading just for this oof:

Well that was brilliant 😁😁

DL reminds me very much of Joanne Harris and the Fox Basher. Having a child who identified as trans has led them to take on the world and demand that it inverts itself to affirm their child in their delusion. They know deep down of course that that can't happen and they can't ever admit that to themselves so they turn their fury on everyone who does not go along with them. In the process they do terrible things and cause appalling damage. The last Japanese soldiers indeed

Brilliant article.

They really have committed to cluelessness.

I wonder if they have noticed that even the BMA has abandoned its criticisms of Cass?

I feel that now it’s become normal to say that Brexit has failed Remainiacs listeners like me should add the caveat that we acknowledge that were getting some of our information from a couple of prize plums and really they could have been saying anything.
