Parents and groups and Governors might want to share this further. We must change the practices of schools and governing bodies to protect children.

This looks like a step forward.

Depends if the governors and senior leadership teams take action, or even read the letters I suppose :)

But if parents read them, they can at least be empowered to hold governors to account. 🤞

If teachers read them they could be empowered to speak up and not just go along with the genderist claptrap.

lcakethereforeIam · 19/05/2026 10:34

It's been laid out for them. They'll struggle to justify ignorance as a defence if the worst should happen.

murasaki · 19/05/2026 10:36

Yes, they can't say they weren't told.

TwoLoonsAndASprout · 19/05/2026 10:36

Who are PSHE Brighton? Do they have any regulatory influence, or are they an advocacy group?

railcardfan · 19/05/2026 10:44

I thought for a minute that this was part of Brighton Council and almost fell off my chair! But it's an advocacy group isn't it?

SingleSexSpacesInSchools · 19/05/2026 10:45

Local advocacy and support group yes

Rather a nice move in closing the 'we didn't know/were waiting for guidance' door in a timely fashion!

Tallisker · 19/05/2026 12:04

I thought it read very well indeed, closely followed by what have I missed? Where’s the catch? Such is the state of play at the moment in Brighton 🙄

Toseland · 19/05/2026 12:41

Odd that the image used has toilets marked "SAFE, RESPECTFUL, INCLUSIVE" - which to me is TRA speak.

MsMcWibble · 19/05/2026 14:02

This is very good indeed.

I think it highlights that what is deemed to be safe, respectful and inclusive can differ wildly!

WallaceinAnderland · 19/05/2026 14:54

Inclusive means that girl's single sex spaces can now include all girls not just those that don't mind sharing with boys.

Kirschcherries · 20/05/2026 00:00

That is a very clear statement.

SternJoyousBeev2 · 20/05/2026 03:10

Well that tellt them.

Igmum · 20/05/2026 05:33

Good. Now let’s see them do it

highame · 20/05/2026 07:56

So, that's pretty clear. Wonder why Bridgit Phillipson is finding it so difficult?

womendeserveequalhumanrights · 20/05/2026 08:36

That's really good. Have you considered sending it to organisations like Governorhub who support many governing boards (I think about 16k schools)? GovernorHub 's whole tagline is 'supporting great governance', which it appears to me this letter does.

Edited to add: whilst I appreciate the focus is Brighton these issues should apply to all governing boards for all schools in the UK. The legal aspects of this letter apply to all schools.
