Bolsover MP Natalie Fleet has been appointed as the new Minister for Safeguarding and Violence Against Women and Girls.

This comes after Jess Phillips resigned from her ministerial role earlier this week, alongside three other ministers who left the Government to show their opposition to Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s leadership.

She sounds like she should be good for this role.
Her take on judge-only trials is interesting.

Didn't she vote against the grooming gangs enquiry? Odd stance to take given her history.

WarriorN · 15/05/2026 15:41

There were some good reasonings for that at the time, though i honestly can’t remember them. And I think later it was clear that enquiry was very much needed

As far as I can tell from not very supportive facebook posts, she voted in line with Labour Party policy not to support the Kemi Baddenoch motion.

And supported the LP call for an independent national inquiry.

So she certainly isn't against an iquiry but just against one as proposed by the Tories!

And have now see she is part of the WEC. I dont remember but wonder if she was there when all the Labour women behaved so badly towards Baroness Falkner.

Ah ok. Well she is certainly a good candidate for the role on the face of it.
