AidaP is scraping Mumsnet threads, and grading them

Honestly, this man is obsessed. He has now created a program to scrape and grade Mumsnet threads from this board.

What is this?

Oh yes, I have downloaded most of mumsnet and we will be doing embeddings of the content to try to understand how does the rot and hate builds and spreads.

I never had so much hate and delusion on my hard drive before 😅

I like the S&B board as a sort of R&R from the...how shall I put it diplomatically - slightly less dramatic problems in the world. But very real for the posters involved.

I also like the fact that everybody pitches in with such gusto to find someone the perfect gold sandal, or the idea outfit for a slightly boho wedding, or - I loved this one: an interview outfit, on a very tight budget, for a very much needed job.
Not only was there lots of advice, but also so many lovely expressions of support for the OP.
I hope she got the job, as so many posters wished for herSmile

Maud the gerbil once visited Style and Beauty.

The swines on that board not only pitched in with gusto but helped create a shopping addiction that she didn't have beforehand!

Which dress to my welcome home party? | Mumsnet

I've been away doing charity work for the past few months and I've just arrived home to a raptuous greeting. The pub is holding a party this evening...

I would look at that trans teen thread and encourage the parent but AidaP has blocked me on Bsky.

Missed that at the time. I've just read it and nearly acquired a shopping addiction myself. 😁

PonyPatter44 · 04/05/2026 19:01

I have some silver sandals, cos I go on cruises and EVERYONE wears them.

I wonder if Aida will share the grades. Will there be a leader board?

TheAutopsyOfMNCorpus · 04/05/2026 19:11

Will Aida give awards?

I wonder who will win Gold, Silver, or Bronze awards for their posts?

TheAutopsyOfMNCorpus · 04/05/2026 19:12

Oooh, Gold, Silver or Bronze sandals!

'Mumsnet must die'.

And to think how long they took to ban him giving him the benefit of the doubt.

But again, they prove our point every bloody time.

Can you imagine the reaction if I posted “r/transuk must die”? Or “Bluesky must die”?

I want sandals like the ones Maud has on the last page. Simple, unfussy, go with everything.

I hope some shoe company exec is reading this and the Maud sandal appears in time for this summer.

And such a typically male patterned behaviour to set up a data scraping tool to ‘grade’ replies when he didn’t get his desired handmaid sycophantic responses. Very few (any?) actual women would respond in such a manner.

Oh dont you?
me and my mates do a sort of sew and scrape session. Rather like knit and natter. You should try it - super womanly you know 🤣

Don't kill Bluesky, it's where I go to laugh at people like AidaP.

It’s interesting reading this thread alternately with the transgender homicides one.

Ooooooh you have reminded me. I was up late last night and ended up watching 'To Think Like A Killer' on iPlayer. I met to recommend it on here.

Its about the career of Dr Ann Burgess who revolutionised how the FBI and the world hunts criminals and how she changed the prospects and treatment of survivors of sexual crime.

Its very much a programme that would interest many of you here because of how it focus on the barriers and sexist attitudes she came across.

But more than that, it also looks at the development of profiling criminals and the patterns they follow and how you can see them escalating and how a huge amount centres around power and control over others.

Fascinating programme. Well worth a worth.

SionnachRuadh · 04/05/2026 22:06

I don't agree with killing Bluesky. Based on the celebrities who've migrated over there (hello Mark Hamill) it serves a useful function as care in the community.

"Mumsnet must die"

Yes, yes dear. Now go and do your homework.

Now, to more important matters. What is Veda, please?

SlackJawedDisbeliefXY · 04/05/2026 23:01

Veda bread is a brand of malt loaf traditionally produced across the United Kingdom and Ireland. However, today it is mainly produced in Northern Ireland

Not having tried it, is it a bit like Soreen fruity malt loaf without the fruity?

Veda is a kind of malted bread, popular in Northern Ireland.
Or Sanskrit texts - context is all😁

Ooh, I like Soreen.

Can I just take this dried-fruit-related moment to say that my new favourite thing at the moment is a warmed and buttered hot cross bun with smoked bacon in it? It truly is the food of the gods.

I would have killed for a pair of strappy gold or silver sandals when I was a sprog. My mum just bought me black school shoes 😭 not even patent leather.

I had strappy silver or gold party shoes as a child, I think they were from BHS. My mother was of the opinion that learning to walk in (small) heels was a life skill.

Boiledbeetle · 05/05/2026 18:19

I've never forgiven my mother for making 10 year old me wear a pink dress and patent leather shoes to her wedding.

Thankfully the rest of the time I lived in jeans and normal brown leather sandals.

I did eventually get black patent Mary Janes, where the strap could be folded back to make them slip-on.

I never did get the pixie boots of my dreams though Sad

MarieDeGournay · 05/05/2026 21:41

Lace-up school shoes, polished every evening, laced army-style with a vertical at the top and the rest crossing [my father's influence]; Clark's closed-toe crepe-soled sandals for summer, which were the perfect footwear for an adventurous tomboySmile
Strappy white sandals to go with my First Communion dress and veil.
I didn't mind having to wear that outfit, it was nicely chosen, and if a dress was stylish enough for me as a child, I tolerated it OK.

I'm so glad we're not talking about dried fruits any more, it was so contentious and divisive, it was threatening to split the Hive Mind😁

Ohhhhh, my 9-year old self pined for those patent convertible mary-janes in the Littlewoods catalogue.

My mum placated me by saying that they had sold out in my size and I BELIEVED HER LIES for years.

At least someone got them. I’m glad it was you Otter
