AidaP is scraping Mumsnet threads, and grading them

Honestly, this man is obsessed. He has now created a program to scrape and grade Mumsnet threads from this board.

What is this?

Oh yes, I have downloaded most of mumsnet and we will be doing embeddings of the content to try to understand how does the rot and hate builds and spreads.

I never had so much hate and delusion on my hard drive before 😅

Whittaker's Peanut slabs - good honest chocolate :)

Whittaker's Peanut slabs* *are gorgeous!

I used to also get friends to bring Flake bars back to Australia from NZ. The NZ Flake was so much nicer.

Oh, apparently it's vomit flavour, not shite?

Meh.

Same acid compound in Parmesan, but at least in Parmesan it mixes with others to just be part of the blend. In chocolate, it is very very very divisive.

They are great. There was a fab ad for Whittaker's many years ago. But my favourite NZ sweet treat where those chocolate chip (more chunks than chips) cookies that you could buy from vending machines. I forgot who made them, so good.

It might not taste nice but butyric acid is one of the biggest contributors to gut health.

Parmesan is good for gut?! Bonus! This thread gets better all the time!

Don't forget to remove all that old cheese that you forgot to peel off before you put it away last time.

<preens>

I always thoroughly clean my toastie machine before putting it away. The removable plates helps!

I love Parmesan. I hate it in chocolate though. So I am sorted!!! Bring on the parmesan !

Are you trying to sell me the pitch that American chocolate is healthier?

Nah... surely you are just trolling us poor little defenseless chocoholics 🙁

I once polished off the end of a box of weetabix eaten in the manner of my father’s family (dry topped with slices of proper Lurpak from the fridge). I think it was 6 bix. My digestive system never forgave me and I had to have two days off work. Ive not eaten them since, even in the manner of my mother’s family (soaked in full fat milk with a generous sprinkling of white granulated sugar.)

As for American chocolate - I actually lost weight when I lived in America because of the chocolate issue. Every time I visited the UK I world take my small suitcase as hand luggage and it would be full (literally) of various treats. I dreaded security asking me to open my case because the contents would have exploded out over the airport in a fountain of purple and silver foil. Usually lasted about a week.

Actually you could always tell the expats waiting at the gate because their hand luggage usually rustled and occasionally spilled over when the owner was searching for something.

You can just stick to a diet high in fibre and fermented foods. Wee gut microbes will make loads of it.
I'm quite fond of a Reeses peanut butter cup or two but that might be mostly because of the peanuts. I just go and sit with Marie on the misfits bench.

Oh God, watch it, someone will invoke Weetabix Banana Horror

I loathe bananas but I was always with her on the warm milk/mushy weetabix thing. It's how I ate it as a kid.
So ... at least half a horror here. Sorry/not sorry

Are they not all interchangeable? Currents, raisins, Sultanas.

Like TRA ploppers on a FWR thread.

I do now!

Me too! 😂

Bleddy love gravy, so much so that I have been known to make a cup and just drink it Blush

Back in Scotland we used to do that with Bovril. Nasty! I'd rather have a mug of cocoa.

ElenOfTheWays · Yesterday 13:44

quantumbutterfly · Yesterday 09:05

Someone will try that now..there are some very impressionable people around.

A new weetabix horror?

ElenOfTheWays · Yesterday 13:51

BambooLampshade · Yesterday 09:41

Aida's scraping program is now going to decide that "Weetabix" is TERF code for something nefarious 😈

I thought it was. Anyone who eats weetabix is definitely up to something. Especially with gravy and raisins.

I just had to look up Lucky Charms breakfast cereal in case it was a student days hallucination. How could that ever be legally sold as a food item? And how was it advertised in Ireland?

The same way they justify selling Pot Noodle as a food item I suppose.

Sleight of hand. Put a calorie in there and hey presto - food.

The local football club serves hot Bovril to the hopeful faithful, I was a bit nostalgic till I remembered it takes like watery gravy. Gravy should coat the food not leak through it.

Agreed. Lumpy gravy for the win.

Sadly hot choc when out & about is often a disappointment, I have to resort to whipped cream & marshmallows to ease the pain.

Have you tried a Passito Muscat di Pantellaria? You can often pick those up at Lidl. Or a Recioto della Valpolicella?

I agree Muscat de Beams de Venise is very undervalued. Mavrodaphne of Patras is also forgotten about but excellent value.

I think though that a Moscato d'Asti that has been aged in oak before release might be the right match for a bounty bar. It will match the coconut nicely and cope with the chocolate.

Thanks for those suggestions, I buy most of my wine from Lidl/Aldi, so will look out for them. Another good one (which I haven't had for decades) is Bortoli Noble One, from Australia, but it is over £20 for a half bottle nowadays.

The Noble One is blockbuster wine. De Bortoli do a cheaper version that has been in Lidl but is also in ASDA for £8. I think they do the Morrison's Best botrytis Semillon too.

The Wine Tours of Lidl have some very very interesting wines.

Back in the 1970s, space rock band Hawkwind made a record about how Einstein's romantic disappointments were due to him not being down with subatomic physics.

Did none of those astronomers discover
While they were staring out into the dark
That what a lady looks for in her lover
Is charm, strangeness and quark

You don't get that kind of quality songwriting from Ed Sheeran or similar current year artists.

It rhymes better than "charm, strangeness and bottom", I suppose
