AidaP is scraping Mumsnet threads, and grading them

BambooLampshade · 28/04/2026 21:15

Honestly, this man is obsessed. He has now created a program to scrape and grade Mumsnet threads from this board.

What is this?

Oh yes, I have downloaded most of mumsnet and we will be doing embeddings of the content to try to understand how does the rot and hate builds and spreads.

I never had so much hate and delusion on my hard drive before 😅

You have some knowledge of dried fruit. Is it your raisin d'etre. I'll get my coat.

But is that knowledge currant?

Sorry didn’t realise thread had been derailed.

Also, re dessicating, try eating a sloe right off the tree.

It absorbs all the moisture in your body instantaneously.

See also 'Olive straight off the tree'

I couldn't talk for about an hour.

I was amazed the first time I went to New Zealand that they do different Cadbury bars there. How is that fair? My favourite was Moro Gold- very good chewy consistency.

There is also a rival brand called Whittakers that do great big slabs, including coconut flavour which I haven't seen anywhere else. Presumably because all the coconut heretics, like the raisin-whingers on this thread, mess up some sales wonk's bar chart.

I'm going to be spending the day looking up NZ food stockists in the UK aren't I?

Yes - I was shocked to find that the Australians have different bars, like Cherry Ripe! It would be fascinating to see and analyse the market research and theories behind the Ozzies loving that enough for it to be a Cadburys staple... whereas the Brits have barely heard of it (unless I was an outlier... but it seems unlikely, I take deep pride in knowing my Cadburys).

That's a cultural difference far more interesting than anything to do with communication or national character or whatever - it's just so arbitrary! Just... why?!

ETA Just googled Moro Gold, and it looks like a Boost by any other name. Another worrying condundrum - why the different branding? And what's a Moro?

Aida's scraping program is now going to decide that "Weetabix" is TERF code for something nefarious 😈

It's food for bigots! 😂

why are you all turning your backs and walking away??

Morning Marie!

Catiette · Yesterday 10:17

Oh. Just googled Moro, and am now far more mystified. Among other things, it's a pejorative (should I have known that already?!)

I totally agree, a late harvest Riesling, or maybe a Muscat de Beaumes de Venise, which is incredible value.

www.waitrose.com/ecom/products/muscat-de-beaumes-de-venise-1348/727790-103385-103386?srsltid=AfmBOooRXzIcFse7BlulqVTpQoPxek4nizr9rzIhK-nW3A7AqTCQ25Du

Have you tried a Passito Muscat di Pantellaria? You can often pick those up at Lidl. Or a Recioto della Valpolicella?

I agree Muscat de Beams de Venise is very undervalued. Mavrodaphne of Patras is also forgotten about but excellent value.

I think though that a Moscato d'Asti that has been aged in oak before release might be the right match for a bounty bar. It will match the coconut nicely and cope with the chocolate.

Catiette · Yesterday 10:18

I'm ignoring Marie.

(Stalks away haughtily, in a strange fashion of forsaking).

It's terrible behaviour from them isn't it. Absolutely no raisin for it.

I need this thread, though currently we are eating up the freezer prior to a couple of days with no freezer access due to the hole in our dining room ceiling (and it being fixed).

Here you go drspouse

Cherry Ripe is sublime. Violet Crumbles are superior to Crunchies.

And our Picnic bars have NO RAISINS so are superior too.

Moro bars are kind like Mars bars but richer and darker. Or maybe like a Milky Way but really rich and dark in comparison.

Is this the same Aida P who does ‘drag queen story time?’

No, I think that was a drag queen known as Aida HD, or a similar cringy pun name based on ADHD.

ETA - for some reason, I really fancy a chocolate bar right now.

Is this the same Aida P who does ‘drag queen story time?’

No that's Sab Samuel. Different bloke.

https://www.nationaldiversityawards.co.uk/2024-shortlist/sab-samuel-aka-aida-h-dee/

That Aida is the one who fundraised for the funeral of a friend who was a convicted rapist and died after a night out that included bestiality with a stranger's dog (also drag queen - the friend not the dog)

Aida P is the one who "lightheadedly" suggest JKR should be fucked with a splintery rolling pin. Not an actual threat, you understand, just the lighthearted bantz of a man who thinks rape and VAWG isn't a big deal, fair game for a funny dig at a woman he's never met because of her political views.

Now, I can recommend that Champagne matches a thick choc chip cookie very well... even a Maryland if needed.

I think actually that Champagne will work with a bounty bar.

Cherry Ripe was an existing product in the Australian market when Cadbury took over.

Most of the different bars and lollies made by organisations such as Cadbury or Nestle were loved legacy products that have continued to be produced because of people prefer them.

Remember also that chocolate bars in Australia will have a chocolate recipe that withstands heat better. No point in selling chocolate that has to be in the fridge as the fridge space is taken up by higher value products in small convenience stores.

I wonder does steeping raisins in Champagne make them any less abominable?
Not that I'm going to risk a perfectly good Bolly to find out..

FlirtsWithRhinos · Yesterday 10:32

And sorry to detail the derail, but...

If someone is going to scrape MN, wouldn't it be great if they scraped relationships or even AIBU to see the patterns of domestic exploitation, coercive control, sexual and financial abuse of women that are still so so common to draw a picture of how women really live in the (mostly) UK is the 2020s?

That seems like a really valuable use of the huge dataset MN is sitting on.

So many women's unfiltered stories on MN that are not told like this anywhere else.

But no, all these trans "women" see is a the possibility an LLM will find them a few posts can be taken out of the wider social context and used to dox us, get us individually banned or force MN to shutter Feminist boards.

I wouldn't do it with Bolly. unless you can afford Bolly to waste.

However, you can soak raisins in any wine and then put them in a dessert. Probably best in a cakey dessert so that the soaked up wine doesn't water down a set custard as it matures.
