I think this one might actually be a biological female. I hope so as the article mentions being remanded in a women's prison. The article and the court are all over the place with pronouns. The criminal is young enough that the headshot is quite androgynous.

I hoped the Zack name was not necessarily a birth name. I'm clutching at straws here aren't i? Possibly male but free to wonder the corridors of a mental health facility, after attacking one woman, to try the same thing on another.

So he’s tried to kill his gran (after asking to sleep in the same bed as her), put a pillow over the face of a woman in a mental health hospital and threatened to stab his partner and they put him in a women’s prison? Seriously? They really do think all women are Non Player Characters don’t they?

I think they could well be female, but deranged with mental health issues and made aggressive and unstable via testosterone.( Looks female to me, and with acne caused by large doses of testosterone).

Also, her grandmother managed to fight her off......not likely if this had truly been a male person.

I commented on this story in an article in Cornwall live, unfortunately my comment couldn't be accepted as it breached their community guidelines.
Basically,isaid it was confusing to call a male she and i didn't see how it could be lawful to house a male in a women's prison given the Supreme court clarified womens means female....

Reading your comments I think you're probably right. This is an unhinged murderous woman.

I would say female. I can't see most older women agreeing to a 21yo grandson, trans-identified or not, spending the night in the same bed, as the grandmother here did. Jay is a deeply disturbed individual, that's the one thing that's very clear. The defence lawyer said 'Jay's childhood had been one of poor mental health, abuse and various suicide attempts - the first one being at the age of 12.' I hope Jay is not on any course of hormones as that isn't going to help.
