there’s a new show on netflix called False Prophet. An ex cult survivor infiltrated the FLDS in Utah to help expose what they were getting up to. The group think, gaslighting and brainwashing of mostly very vulnerable people, was like watching a textbook description of
how trans ideology works. The slow loss of critical thinking skills, enigmatic and evangelical leaders who demand absolute obedience. The woman who infiltrated the FLDS did a doctorate in the psychology of cults when she escaped hers. It’s chilling.

in this series, the ones who were able to separate themselves and spend time outside of the cult, started to ask questions. That’s what many of the cult
menbers said: that they weren’t allowed to ask any questions at all.
Obedience at all times was the bottom line.

Just started episode 3. To be honest I am no longer shocked when I see this type of brainwashing, I wish I was.

Just finished watching this. I thought it was a very good documentary. Despite watching other programmes about similar cults, I thought this really portrayed all the women and girls’ vulnerability. Christine Marie is an amazing woman to have brought that sick creep’s crimes to light and Julia and Nomz (in the end) showed so much courage. It is frightening to see how humans can be so brainwashed into believing that their way of life is normal. I hope the other wives manage to break free from the control of SB.

I just finished watching this. Was anyone else struck by the local cops total disinterest in the abuse the girls and women were subject too? Is obviously a complicated situation for law enforcement but I just felt rage at the lack of interest from him - and in my mind he represented typical male disinterest in the abuse so many women aand cchildren live with.

I watched this a few days ago. It was staggering hearing the cop, saying something to the effect of, I can’t watch too much of this, or get too involved, as it’s quite upsetting for me. Utterly missing the point that child abuse was happening right in front of him.
I loved the FBI women who eventually was brought in the loop, to lead the investigation. She was the kind of person you’d wand on your side in a situation like this; she had so much empathy.

I think the local cops are infiltrated with FLDS which is why nothing gets done until it goes to the state police or FBI.

There's two Netflix documentaries about the FLDS (Keep Sweet and False Prophet) so I might be getting them confused but I think it was in the False Prophet one that it was made obvious that the local police were FLDS.

I know I was so angered how dismissive he was and to harp on about not wanting to listen to it again and boxing it as his heart was too soft or some twaddle. What about those poor abused kids! What about their poor hearts?! Horrific police system - no wonder so much horrendous abuse goes on in that state.
