Please read this brilliant article appearing in the Sunday Telegraph tomorrow.

it tells of the growing revolution and groundswell of opposition to the firm and the new EDI policy .

Oh and Melissa Green completely digs an enormous hole for herself with her comment at the end!

Women’s Institute tearing itself apart over trans policy

Critics say new strategy, which aims to celebrate organisation’s diverse membership, is discriminatory

I know I'm missing the point here slightly, but when the telegraph talks about the "69 federation chairmen", I take it that they mean chairwomen??

I mean, even though their styleguide is probably written by Colonel Sir Bufton Tufton (ret'd), you'd think they could make an exception when referring to the chairs of a woman's organisation in a story about keeping a woman's organisation for women despite some chairwomen saying that some men are women. It's an extra layer of mindfuck I could do without.

Melissa Green, the chief executive of the NFWI, said: “Following the Supreme Court judgment, we announced with deep regret that we could no longer offer trans women membership from April 2026. This does not change our long-held organisational belief that trans women are women.

“We are comfortable that nothing in the form or our policy documents requires our members to accept any particular belief, and have had this checked with our legal advisers to ensure we are protecting the rights of all members.”

No Melissa - can’t see anything amiss here at all 🙄

Time they binned of the infiltrators in my opinion. Want to join thinking, about it.

I want to join the WI I really do and had intended to as soon as the men were expelled but this hand wringing is so off putting

What is an “organisational belief” ?

An organisation can’t be said to “believe” anything, only individual people can express things they believe.

She means “our official organisational doctrine” in religious sense.

Who got to decide that?

Thistleton · 06/04/2026 09:55

I signed the form following an email exchange with WI HQ in which they claimed it was to confirm that I am female. I decided in the end that I would hold my nose and ignore all the ridiculous posturing about TWAW because in reality it makes no difference to my lovely local group and I didn’t want to leave.

But reading the article has made me think that I will write again saying that I want it on record that I reject the ‘organisational belief’ quoted by Melissa Green and that I want it to be clearly understood that as a sex realist I will not subscribe to gender ideology, however it’s spun in the WI.

Their handling of this has been utterly appalling.
