Not a TAAT, so best not discussed here, but take a look at the Non-Member Requests board.

I'm new around here and have no idea what the Non-Member Requests board are, or what TAAT means. Can you translate/clarify for me please? Thanks.

lcakethereforeIam · 31/03/2026 10:05

TAAT is 'thread about a thread' but i haven't the foggiest about the other. I'm all agog though.

ErrolTheDragon · 31/03/2026 10:29

And re TAAT - there’s a widely held misconception that ‘threads about threads’ aren’t allowed, but actually it’s really only threads about threads which have been deleted by MNHQ which are against Talk Guidelines.
Afaik it’s ok to link to another thread eg to one which has been moved to the Petitions and Activism board.

lcakethereforeIam · 31/03/2026 11:20

I didn't know about that board Errol or the TAAT nuance. Is it the 'woke' questionnaire? There's a GI one but it's no longer accepting responses.

Retiredfromthere · 31/03/2026 12:25

I think it's the LGBTQIA+ one which is about a survey about preparing for pregnancy, appears to be about women preparing for pregnancy but the researcher wants to be inclusive so is using the word people in place of the word woman. Presumably because they are not sure which are women in that mix. There are relevant questions you could ask the non-birthing person, but those questions don't appear It seems.

It does make you worried about the state of research.

GreyskySexRealistsky · 31/03/2026 12:26

Oh FGS. A survey about pregnancy that doesn't use the word "woman".

The poster says she used the LGBT Foundation guide to ask the questions.
I've just clicked on the LGBT Foundation link.
Say no more.

What a fascinating board that is - thanks OP. But much neglected it seems looking at the number of responses

lcakethereforeIam · 31/03/2026 13:16

If it is the pregnancy one, what a clown show!

TwoLoonsAndASprout · 31/03/2026 13:18

I think it’s one that has been removed. It certainly doesn’t seem to be there now.

lcakethereforeIam · 31/03/2026 13:24

The one that @RoastOrMash linked (thank you) still seems to be there.

There was a different one earlier - with queer in the description.

lcakethereforeIam · 31/03/2026 14:13

I think I'm glad I missed it.

Yes, that one. I hope the researcher had a chance to read our explanations, not just peoples’ outrage, and reconsiders her method of classifying respondents. Nothing wrong with adding questions about respondents’ gender ID. Everything wrong with entirely ignoring the sex of the respondent when researching pregnancy-related issues.

She's actually apologised and gone away to consider the points raised.
If she'a a Uni researcher, she'll be surrounded by the TWAW brigade and might even have toxic lecturers who'll mark her down for failing to obey the trans isntructions.

StillWeRise · 31/03/2026 20:10

so, a good outcome then

StillWeRise · 31/03/2026 20:10

She's asked for the thread to be deleted:

"This thread has been deleted
The OP has requested we remove this thread whilst they take the feedback about their research on board"

StillWeRise · 31/03/2026 20:27

quite, she is taking the feedback on board
it will be interesting to see what happens next

JellySaurus · 31/03/2026 22:21

An interesting and perhaps positive outcome. I hope she comes back.

Yes, I hope so. If there’s one internet forum with lived experience re TTC and pregnancy, MumsNet is it - the clue is in the name!
