I personally think it highly likely, certain even, given how macho & boorish he always seems, that CS would want to have a good go at becoming a biological father, rather than his wife carrying, if you like, another man's kids. Money or access to medical help wouldn't be a barrier. And as others on here have said, a number of individuals with similar conditions have successly fathered children (in the sense of providing the sperm). But the very little that the couple have said about the issue quite clearly states that they had to use sperm donated from elsewhere. They may be lying, of course, but it's really much better to give them the benefit of the doubt slash to respect their privacy on the matter.

They might well do in some rural parts of Africa. But I agree the person does not look anything like a girl. Just being pedantic.

This is in Durban though. A major city. With busy beaches. On a school trip. Surrounded by classmates.

This is also presumably one of CS's favourite ever photos of himself given its approval for publication in CS's autobiography. The photo is one of CS's own, had that i know of never been seen anywhere before the book came out. And it's of course a huge trolling wink to readers.

It’s very arrogant to direct people
to sources because they disagree with you and you want them to agree - assigning them reading 😂😂

I’m happy to agree to disagree - I don’t want be in the mumsnet echo chamber thank you

It's always amusing to see the fingers in ears posters proudly declaring their insistence to maintaining their lack of knowledge. Particularly to the posters on here who read articles/research etc from all kinds of sources and forensically examine and discuss them.

'Nooooo! Take the sources away! I'm happy in my ignorance!'

I have a rare genetic condition that means I don't have a working lymph system and I only have one kidney.

This condition didn't reveal itself till I was 15, and I only found out I have one kidney three months ago.

But my existence as someone with a single kidney and a non-working lymphatic system, doesn't mean that I'm a special "inter-renal" person. It's a genetic variation. Most humans develop two working kidneys.

DSDs don't mean humans are not male or female or both male and female, they mean that for some men and women their sexual reproductive system didn't develop in the expected way.

Just as my lymph system and kidney didn't develop as expected.

It's not difficult to understand.

Thanks for the reminder Edith x

Wow yes. Never mind Semanya, look at the hulking guy on the left. Shock

Margaret Wambui, who stopped competing internationally in 2019 after his DSD was revealed and he was disqualified by the IAAF. He could have decided to take medication to lower his testosterone according to the rules at the time, but I guess he decided to quit while he was ahead, unlike Semenya.

Probably O level Biology?

Ok Ugkydumpling, go straight for a BSc in Molecular Biology and Genetics, like mine, or in Human Developmental Biology, like at least 2 of the posters on this thread. Perhaps then you'll be less confused. Mind you, my son is doing A level Biology at the moment and DSDs are mentioned and human sexual development and sexual dimorphism is covered in depth, so that might also be a good place to start. Honestly, you have no idea how often we've heard this tedious confused waffle about intersex, its just tedious now (and often used disingenuously by trans rights activists to try and muddy the water about the fact that men can't become female and vice versa). And DSD conditions really ARE NOT difficult to understand for scientists.

I think the Reddit/Bluesky narrative that we're all a 'bunch of silly mummies' blinds certain posters to the fact that there are a lot of very clever posters on here, many experts in their respective fields and/or who hold (often multiple) advanced degrees. I am often a little intimidated at the sheer depth of knowledge of some posters on here. I certainly wouldn't be telling them 'you're wrong' without being very sure of my facts.

Which is why, on the whole, bar from athletics fans, he gets less shit. Because he wisely decided to put his manly head below the precipice, unlike the media courting misogynistic man Semenya.

No it won’t

They can have external female genitalia and gonads inside for example

you better ring sports England and tell them you’ve solved it! They’d be mighty relieved

Edited

I have external female genitalia and gonads inside just like every other woman without a DSD.

Because the definition of gonads is a collective word for ovaries and testes.

If you think that gonads just means testes, then you have misunderstood basic scientific terms.

As a result, I cannot give you credit for anything else you have said.

Blueskiesnotgrey · 28/03/2026 23:17

Its amazing how often people assume gonads means testicles isnt it? The usual sexist default to male, even from the so called progressives.

A simple Biology GCSE, even double award, would have defined gonads guys 😄😁😆 (sorry, couldn't resist)

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 28/03/2026 23:24

Maybe because of Buster Gonad from Viz magazine. He had unfeasibly large testicles.

But.......but....... but Biology GCSE doesn't go into such incredibly deep depths, surely?

It's always funny how the TWAW brigade claim scientific knowledge but have none, and underestimate the extremely well qualified women, and the not qualified but extremely well read self taught women on here. Many of us have read more scientific papers in the last 8 years or so than we ever wanted to or should have needed to.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 28/03/2026 23:32

Oh, and talking of Viz, I've just ploughed through every single episode of Crown Court, which was set in the fictional town of Fulchester.

Viz decided that all their characters would live in Fulchester as a result of this series.

It took several weeks and great dedication on my part to watch the whole of Crown Court.

Do I win ten pounds?

🤣🤣🤣

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 28/03/2026 23:36

Yes, indeed.
I'll never forget this nonsense, this unbelievable struggle that women had thrust upon them.

Just to mollify a very strange and aggressive bunch of men. And their captured handmaidens.

CS is intersex so insisting on ‘he’ is not the gotcha you think it is.

we need proper, intelligent strong arguments. Not emotive jabs.

the argument stands up for itself without cheap shots that have no logical basis

CS has DSD he is not intersex.

He is a DSD because he has male sex chromosomes and the SRY gene which means that he went through a male puberty. He also has xY

The reason he has a DSD is because his sexual organs went through a disordered development in utero. When he was born he did not have external testes therefore was observed female at birth.

This means he is a male, and the pronoun for male is he.

And observed is always better than assigned, like it was a lottery. Still male, as you say.

I'm also faintly amused at the number of people who probably don't give a shit about sports let alone female sports who pile on post the IOC announcement.

On of DP's colleagues was genuinely surprised to hear this year in a chat about football that we'd been to France to a women's World Cup England game. Booked by me, but he was excited to go. Women's sport just isn't a thing to many men and a lot of women, and the TWAW crew pretending they are interested now are utterly transparent.

she is intersex and identifies as a women - we don’t have access to her full medical records

You can say that until you’re blue in the face; it’s still a load of old shit.

JellySaurus · 29/03/2026 06:54

Supporting the rights of mediocre male athletes to displace and/or injure female athletes in their sport is a perfect example of not giving a shit about women’s sports.

Maaaaate...
I have reasonable experience of Africa.

Even back in the 1970s, breasts were only uncovered under specific circumstances (breastfeeding and traditional dancing - and not always even then), or within some very traditional communities in the absolute back end of beyond.

You have reasonable experience of the whole of Africa do you? Please stop discussing Black people in this thread about sex and gender. Most of you are very offensive and more than a little racist. Please stop.

Most of you are very offensive and more than a little racist.

Did it not occur to you as you wrote that that it was more than a little unreasonable?

You need to back up the accusation that 'most' of a disparate group of posters are 'very offensive' and 'more than a little racist', which is a mealy-mouthed way to accuse an entire group of being racist.

Any evidence from the entirety of this discussion to back up your accusation?

I'm sure you will welcome the idea of universal testing by means of a simple, one-off, non-invasive test, because it will apply equally to all women, or people who claim to be women, regardless of race. No unfair singling out of women because of ethnicity or race or where they are for - logically, you must welcome the universality and objectivity of the IOC's eligibility tests.
