Transwomen have NOT been "banned" from the Olympics

Transwomen have not been "banned" from the Olympics. It has just been made clear that athletes must compete withing their own sex class.
Why such hyperbole and misinformation in the MSM? It is ridiculous.
GMB is all sad faces and sympathy. Not a word or thought for the actual women.
Interviewing Debbie Hayton now.

"Transwomen BANNED from Olympics" - headline grabbing, gets peoples attention.

"Olympic athletes must compete in own sex class" - dull, so what, doesn't sell anything or get clicks.

Headlines are always sensational, this isn't new.

Skyellaskerry · 27/03/2026 07:35

I agree it is plainly inaccurate and extremely annoying to say the least. Grateful as ever to Sharron Davies who has repeatedly said it’s not about removing a person from the sport they want to play, everyone should be able to, sport is for everyone who wants to participate. But in a fair way. If sport cannot make itself fair then what can!

gigabiccy · 27/03/2026 07:40

It was ridiculous levels of fawning. Hayton's looming over everyone.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 27/03/2026 07:40

Fortunatly DH was very clear while Charlie (the racing driver) spouted all sorts of inaccuracies without challenge. The presenters anxiously tiptoed round the issue. Very tedious.

ScarlettSunset · 27/03/2026 07:57

Obviously the true headline should read 'Transwomen who are not good enough at sport to compete in their own sex class at the Olympics will be unable to participate - same as everyone else who's not a world class athlete'

That's not what the TRAs want to hear though.

MassiveWordSalad · 27/03/2026 08:01

Yes, agreed. The more prominent issue affecting women’s elite sport has been male athletes with DSDs such as Caster Semenya, Imane Khelif and others, who are not transwomen. It would be much more pertinent for the MSM to focus on the medals that have been stolen from women over the years because of unscrupulous coaches and scouts recruiting these men specifically because they have an advantage over women. And of course they don’t mention the transmen, who can take part in women’s sport as long as they’re not doped up on testosterone.

That being said, of course we don’t want any more Laurel Hubbards and hopefully this ruling will filter down to all levels of sport, as there are plenty of transwomen at grass roots level stealing places from women and putting them in physical danger.

soupycustard · 27/03/2026 08:08

Drives me mad. Ditto, trans children have NOT been banned from Girl Guides. BOYS have been. Ffs.

SingleSexSpacesInSchools · 27/03/2026 08:09

The only way that this madness has been allowed to continue is because of the twisting of language in order to hide the truth. In my own case I have always been clear that I am keeping males and their penises out of female spaces. Activists however would have it that trans girls are being banned from female changing rooms in schools.

As soon as you use clear language such as boys asked to leave girl guides by September 2026 instead of trans girls forced to leave guides by September 2026 you see the same information but a completely different take upon it

This is and has always been about language. Somebody pointed out to me yesterday that news stories always say a woman was raped. They never say a man raped a woman. language is key the pushback from all of us should be that.

If you look at all of the news articles about the Olympics issue on X you will see that 90% of the comments underneath every single one is a correction. For example with sky all of the comments are no males have been banned from female categories.

I think the world has woken up. I think the conversation has moved on a lot and it is down to people like us in the no to reinforce clear accurate language whenever we can because 90% of the population has no idea that a trans woman is actually a male.

(duplicate post)

Igmum · 27/03/2026 08:10

FFS 🤦‍♀️ MSM, but three cheers and a finally for the IOC. It should never have happened. It should never have been allowed to go on so long. Fingers crossed that any sporting bodies still captured will follow suit.

Oh and it’s a useful source to quote against HH’s appeal.

Smout · 27/03/2026 21:25

The Guardian managed to report this correctly.
“IOC bans trans women from all female events at the Olympics”.

OpheliaWitchoftheWoods · 27/03/2026 22:00

A number of journalists identify as this having happened. Fact shaming is a really mean way to expect responsibility, accountability and a grip on reality. Sad Times.

endofthelinefinally · 28/03/2026 22:07

I understand that Caster Semenya is trying to set up a protest against the ruling. I think it was in a BBC news article.

I understand that Caster Semenya is trying to set up a protest against the ruling. I think it was in a BBC news article.

"I will encourage athletes to come together as a class action ... because this does not make sense. It does not save women's sport."

Myalternate · 28/03/2026 22:57

Tough luck Semenya. 🥲
Can’t wait to watch women’s sports again knowing there’s no cheating.

MarieDeGournay · 28/03/2026 23:13

It's a really poor article, isn't it? No depth or insight or balance...
He asks CS benign ''But couldn't it be said...' questions and then answers them himself e.g.
I put this to Semenya.
"Based on what?" she responded. "There's no scientific proof about what has been said. It's an ideology."
The full scientific research behind the decision has not been published. Nor has the IOC said what has changed in recent years scientifically or medically.

Presumably 'what changed' was that the IOC was no longer able to maintain the fiction about eligibility for women's sports being decided on what it said in your passport.

Enforced verification tests showed that while she always identified as female and had female traits, Semenya also had the typical male XY chromosome pattern and high levels of naturally occurring testosterone.

Has anybody spotted any female traits at all??

Regarding the fact that testing would take place in youth athletics,
For Semenya this just adds to safeguarding issues: "Testing a girl, a child, it is harmful and it is shameful," she said.

The interviewer doesn't even challenge CS about this breath-taking piece of hypocrisy.

RareGoalsVerge · 28/03/2026 23:27

In other news - able bodied people have been banned from the paralympics and a number of 22yo football players who had been identifying into the U14 squad have been told they can't do that any more and are sad.

endofthelinefinally · 29/03/2026 08:20

Thank you @ MassiveWordSalad.
I couldn't find the article again to share it.

Because sports journalists were too thick, or too captured, to report the issues accurately and use the term DSD, which most of the athletes affected are.

Ultimately this can only be a good thing. He complains about a lack of scientific evidence but we know there is scientific evidence. It is quick simple and easy to explain and so the more Leite that he shared upon this the more people in the public eye and the mainstream media should be explaining the literal scientific facts and basis of this decision and the world is in a better place.

Postmodern arguments about sex as a spectrum there being no scientific truth et cetera fall apart as soon as there are enough eyes and discussion about it

1apenny2apenny · 29/03/2026 10:33

I saw that Caster Semenya is going to do a class action - what with Khalif! I hope ALL female athletes come out and say they are happy for once in a lifetime cheek swab to be able to compete in fair competition. After all a cheek swab is a walk in the park compared to other tests women have to routinely endure but the CS wouldn’t have any knowledge if that!

AntiqueBabyLoanSmurf · 04/04/2026 13:30

Considering that the people who have any hope of competing at Olympic level are the elite of the elite... and what a tiny proportion of the population in general is trans... has nobody thought to wonder why there are actually so many transwomen in the first place who are contenders for competing in the women's events at the Olympics, and whether there may be any reason why they seem to enjoy such particular strengths as a 'subset of women' in those events?
