Moby: what a bellend

Had to laugh at Moby going out of his way to flag up his brave culture warrior credentials by dragging Lola by The Kinks all the way up from 1970 so he could claim it was gross and transphobic.
Especially as the song is actually affectionate, bittersweet, honest, has a great tune, not transphobic and absolutely craps on most of Moby's output from a great height.

And actually failing to understand the possibility that the song is a sweet tale of a young man coming to terms with his homosexuality by falling in love. (Probably not what the TRA Kinks fans are hearing but atill...)

And dare I say it, failing to understand the possibility that men adopting a female appearance in the 1970s may have a (historic?) component of gay men wanting to express their sexuality in a way that made sense in the days when homosexuality was a crime.

But no Moby, of course yours is the only valid voice to pronounce on any person in any era.

Moby is a sanctimonious prick who really needs to sit down and reflect on his creepy behaviour towards women far too young for him. Lola is a brilliant song.

That chapter of MD is basically a dick joke... one of the whalers uses skin taken from a dead whale's 'private parts' to make a kind of robe/apron for himself.

Love his music, not surprised he's a wanker.
Friends and I once spend a happy drunken night writing a 21st century version of Lola in which the protagonist picks up a trans woman but never actually gets his rocks off because they just lecture him all night.
The only line I remember is,
"I'm not the world's most passionate guy but when she moved onto Butler I started to cry

I've never really paid much attention to Moby and I don't think I'll start now. The Kinks, however, were awesome. So many fantastic songs.

Loads of earworms. Including their other famous ' gay ' song See My Friends. What an awesome group they were. Poor old Mouldy. I don't know what to say mate. Maybe come out as Trans?
