Tarryn Baird (Trybus) trial

Is anyone, especially South African women, following the trial about Tarryn Baird?

I am a South African and been in the UK for 20+ years. I decided many, many years ago to not date South African men. I believe there is something in the culture regardless of race, class and background that is deeply unattractive and unappealing to SA men. Curious if anyone has thoughts on this?

This court case has me thinking about it and male violence in general.

Hi OP, I’m South African (also been in the UK for 20+ years). I hadn’t heard about this case but have just read up about it. That poor woman, what she must have endured! It is heartbreaking.

Honestly, the level of male violence in SA is shocking. It’s not just the volume of it (a woman raped every 30 seconds and a child raped every 6 minutes) but the sheer depravity of what is done to women and children.

I had not heard of this, thanks for the thread OP. What this woman suffered is unimaginable. I’m trying to get caught up. Does anyone know why it’s just come to trial now, when she died in 2017? I hope the testimony of her mum, friends and her written logs count for something, against this creep. So often we see the system letting women down.

Not sure why it's only come to trial, good point. I think we will see more cases like this of women driven to suicide because of male violence.
