Any idea which of the alloa womens groups are arranging this?

Seriestwo · 05/03/2026 10:52

I think it’s its own group. I think there is crossover between www and GTF and Alloa.

This time last year there was 2 separate groups claiming to be behind the original event and 2 were being run under the same name (though I'm not sure if either went ahead in the end) and their was a bit of a stooshi over it and 1 side was claiming the others were pro trans.
So i was wondering which side won and if its women only or for "all women"

I remember something about that, but not detail. Surely it’s women only! Mind you, I’d not be surprised if TRAs want to go and be a pest

It's true the original group had a falling out and one year there were two fantastic events both under the same, or similar, names. But since then only one group has kept going and put on the Alloa event every year.

Both groups were staunchly pro-women, never a sniff of TRAs, so you'll have a great day if you're able to attend the festival this year.

I’m looking forward to it. It’s good to hang out with women (and avoid any squabbling)

Oh no! I had this idea of them just getting on with being pro-active GC women. Now it seems they too have their dividions.

Though have to say I thought their agenda for the day looked quite "conservative" based on my (admittedly faulty) memory on most things, that the original meeting(s) were quite radical.

But still, not only is there a day event, but also a social on the saturday and a lesbian event on the sunday.

Which just goes to show it is still possible for local women's groups to organise events.

It’s run by the same women who’ve always run Alloa Women’s Festival in Alloa Town Hall. There was a splinter! group who ran a smaller event in Falkirk (nearby) - not last year but the year before. It was a wee bit conservative- (which is maybe what another poster is talking about) but well run. Alloa’s always been quite radical. 5th year of running it and now the organisers are going for a day 2 - for lesbians called the Lesbian Climax 😂
