Why we need to talk about the manosphere: Global 50/50 launches new event series on gender equality

Across the world, long-standing commitments to gender equality are being actively contested. From the rise of organised online misogyny to coordinated political efforts targeting reproductive rights and workplace equity, hard-won gains are under pressure.

It is in this context that Global 50/50 launches a bold new event series, bringing together leading activists, scholars and practitioners to unpack what is driving this backlash and what we can do about it.

It’s first event, Gender Justice in the Age of the Manosphere, will take place on 23 March featuring writer and activist Laura Bates and renowned feminist scholar Raewyn Connell.

Good to know that the manosphere that exists IRL has made sure women dont get carried away in this first discussion by having a TW who specialises in teaching "masculinities" balance feminist speaker Laura Bates!

It's so tedious. Every time there is anything for females, pathetic men always pop up.

And fuck those women who support these pathetic males.

I’m sure Laura is perfectly happy with that, as she has a huge blindspot about a large part of the manosphere.

Stuff like this suits the trans activists as it distracts from their own misogynistic behaviour. They’ll be falling over themselves to get on board with things like this. It keeps the FeministLite ™ elite busy with things to podcast about while demonstrating how inclusive they are.

I note that Theroux has a new documentary about the manosphere.

I think for me what it reflects is the the new "frontiers" is the viftual world and we already now how both MRAs and TRAs have made it anti woman.

And I bet the people who organised this thought they are displaying now thoroughly up to date they are in their politics.

Talking about women's rights and (big plus!) getting a man who identifies as a woman, and teaches "masculinity" is at the very cutting edge of today's politics.

Being totally oblivious that in fact it is a prime example of how the partriarch in each era always manages to end up controlling the narrative.

(Almost as bad for me is this man claiming he is a woman, is him saying he is a feminists and all those idiots who promote him as a "feminist" that students etc., are meant to listen to.)
