Pride flag at the Stonewall Inn Drama

I thought that the myth of the Stonewall riots being started by a transwoman had been dispelled, that it was in fact a drag queen/gay man?

Does this spell a schism in the alphabet movement, or is it simply an aesthetic choice that recognizes the hideousness of the progress flag?

It was arguably started by a black lesbian, although her Wikipedia article has 'transed' her

I can't read the Guardian article without accepting their cookies, but I know the background to this.

The Stonewall Inn is a 'national monument' and as such it came under the Trump admin, decree that the term LGBT was to be replaced with LGB, and the trans flags were removed from The Stonewall and on the National Park Service website entry on the Stonewall, trans references were removed.

Proper order! The place had been swathed in 'progress' flags, the history of the Stonewall Riots had been rewritten, completely ahistorically since 'transgender' wasn't invented till after the 1969 riots.

As PPs have pointed out, they retrospectively 'transed' the gay drag queens who played a big role in the riots, and Stormé, the lesbian drag king who, according to one version of the Stonewall mythology, started the whole thing.
Who knows who did, but one thing is certain: it was not transpeople!

It appears that the 'original' Pride flag, the rainbow one not the 'Progress' one, has also been removed from the flagpole at the Stonewall site, something about only flying the national flag at National Park sites or something..

Retrospectively transed, yes. Played a big role, no. There were 2 drag queens who were regulars at the club and are often named as the instigators, but neither was there when the riot started. One said in several interviews that he only turned up hours later and there's no evidence the other was there at all (don't know if he ever commented, but others have spoken about him being passed out somewhere else on the night in question).

I agree with PPs, and is of course typical of the Guardian, that they are promoting the trans agenda, ie that everything is trans so that even an historical Gay event, isn't allowed to be that.

Dont know about the Trump ruling, but sounds more than likely. Who knew he defended same sex attraction, and it also seems likely that if it is a National Monument there would be other rules.

As it happens I came across the article by chance earlier today, and not sure how true it really is, but it seems these are still many versions of the same story.
