Alleged light sentence and encouraging crime by women

There is a thread on AccountingWeb where a man (Peter Saxton) is suggesting that:

  1. A woman was let off scott free for a crime - when she wasn't - she was punished and

  2. This light/no sentence will be a green light for mothers of young children to commit crime knowing they will basically be let off.

It's a crazy allegation and perspective - and built on an idea that this lady wasn't punished at all for her crime. It worries me that men have these views and confidently announce them. It's like we haven't moved forward very far and we are in a more finely balanced position that we'd like to think regarding how men might treat us and punish us if they had free reign.

I'd post a link, but I think that flags posts? Its the AccountingWeb website. Any Answers section and the thread is "Criminal Accountant"

Maybe he's pissed off because women only make up such a small % of the prison population. Although I can think of many other things to be pissed off about. Like the woefully small sentences men who sexually assault or "use child pornography"

We are much more perilously positioned than I think we realised- certainly than I realised. To lose the right to appropriate gynaecological healthcare in the states, and single sex spaces/women only short lists for example.

I was thinking about the custody cases overturned recently, where abusive men successfully claimed parental alienation and were awarded sole care of their DC. It was such a very short window where mothers were prioritised. The Tenant of Wildfell Hall is about that, I think.

I didn't click on the news link about the case but I looked at the thread on AccountingWeb. He gets some pushback in the comments. He also says "It seems like the only people who dont get favourable treatment are white men." Also he makes comments about lax sentencing for women with children and ethnic minorities. Seems to be a bit of a stirrer. So to be honest, I don't care what he thinks.

Can you imagine a world where women offended at the same rate as men? It would be chaotic.
