Kate Osborne MP says High Court confirms EHRC got the law wrong!

Kate Osborne MP
‪@kateosbornemp.bsky.social‬

The High Court today confirms that the EHRC's draft code of practice got the law wrong and must be changed. Women's and men's toilets can be provided on a trans- inclusive basis for customers and service users.

Like Nadia Whittome and Carla Denyer, Kate Osborne has swallowed the GLP's deliberately distorted press release whole and obviously hasn't even skimmed the judgment itself. Appallingly lazy and incompetent behaviour from elected representatives. They should be ashamed of themselves.

ETA Satisfying to see Kate roundly ratioed in the replies though. 👏

ItsCoolForCats · 15/02/2026 20:26

We have discussed this on the main GLP thread. Kate Osborne is a moron who is only too happy to spend the GLP's disinformation even further.

What if it has been posted on another thread?!!!!!!!

Apart from the fact that there is never a "main" thread on FWR.

Long threads with endless speculartion may be a form of therapy for those who take part, but are impenetrable to those who dont have time to read something that long.

Although if by some mechanism of finding a shared / agreed opinion from a long thread, it would be more useful for someone to post a summary.

Or in the unlikely event of deciding on a shared course of action, post that so other can see an outcome.

Not doubting the value of speculating, shared hand wringing, but sometimes it is easer to have actual points of information, just to store away and remember in the future what someone like Kate Osborne has said.

Quite honestly it makes it look like you think that unless those posting are under the supervision of the long thread, they will reach the wrong conclusion!

Oh for god’s sake calm down. The poster was just saying it’s being discussed on another larger thread. You act like the arbiter of everything FWR.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/02/2026 03:17

There is nothing in the OP to say that it is misinformation so you are amplifying that misinformation. You’ve had this explained to you multiple times OP. Kate Osborne is not a reliable source, she has demonstrated before that she doesn’t understand the law around this issue. The main thread has all the reactions along with analysis of why this is an important ruling, not just “endless speculation”. Why are you so disrespectful of other women who understand the law and keep up with it much better than you do?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/02/2026 03:22

I’ll take “Shared handwringing” over poorly articulated threads amplifying deliberate TRA propaganda, made by posters with only the most basic understanding of the law and the importance of the case in question any day of the week.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/02/2026 03:42

The reason there is a long thread isn’t because “it’s a form of therapy” Confused but because this is a case that the losing party is misrepresenting. Some media have followed suit, as well as at least 3 MPs. There was no requirement to rewrite the guidance, this is entirely an invention of Jolyon Maugham and his supporters. The GLP lost on every count. The interim guidelines have essentially been green lighted by the court, even though they were withdrawn months ago. It will be interesting to see what happens now.

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 16/02/2026 06:22

Wasn't she one of the ones that went to Europe, and is part of the group who is responsible for the utter shite that says 'trans' women should be considered women in every way. It's not surprising that she's spreading the lies she's a fully paid up member of the liers club. 😤

I’ve taken to putting 40 page threads into ChatGpt and asking for a summary of the points.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/02/2026 07:44

Which has its place. But AI doesn’t always get things right. Especially when there are bad actors involved, skewing the information, as with this case. (Maugham, Osborne, Whittome, Pink News). But I’m sure you know to be sceptical and don’t attempt to correct people who know all the ins and outs based on an AI summary.

Of course this OP isn't amplifying misinformation: it is drawing attention to wrongheadedness in exactly the same way as a million other threads on the subject.

And the other reprimands in this post and others in the thread are absurd. This is a chat forum; people post what they want. It doesn't have to be coordinated or optimal in any way.

I made a similar pissed-off post on another thread when IwantToRetire herself was reprimanding posters for allowing threads to be full of repetitive commentary rather than being restricted to news updates.

People can post what they want. It isn't 'disrespectful' to anyone to feel that another thread should be started.

This is a completely weird dispute that distracts from thread content and seems to be cropping up on several threads. Couldn't you just leave eachother alone?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/02/2026 08:05

Yes, you have your opinion, and I have mine. You can make whatever “pissed off posts” you want, the dismissive way she talks about the main thread (and yes it is the main thread) she didn’t start was disrespectful. That the thread is “shared handwringing”. “A form of therapy”, “endless speculation”. The thread she came into in the middle with her AI summary telling us what was what. You didn’t see how rude it was, obviously. No, it’s a group of well informed people discussing a complex issue.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/02/2026 08:06

Anyway, I’m not engaging further on this, I’ve said my piece. Hope that helps.

Yes, she was the proposer of that motion the Council of Europe recently voted for re trans conversion therapy. https://www.spiked-online.com/2026/01/19/how-the-council-of-europe-could-foist-trans-ideology-on-us-all/

I nearly posted this on the other thread along with OPs post but didn't want to derail.
She's a complete narcissist.

Anything yet from above the MP level clarifying that misinformation is being spread and putting the plain facts out there?

No?

Oh I am surprised.

I'll hope there are people at this point challenging it at the top, some of the linked names on X have been useful ones, but as usual by the time this govt actually does anything, the situation will be far, far worse than it needed to be. They enable all the confusion, to the point I wonder how much it's quite intentional enabling as only one side (sort of) benefits from absolute confusion.

Imnobody4 · 16/02/2026 11:14

Remember Dawn Butler having to apologise for misleading Parliament over Cass Report having been misled by Pink News. These MPs so stupid.

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 16/02/2026 11:32

Perhaps while the government are contemplating banning children under 16 years from using SM they should consider banning the MP's who are acting like children who are more childish than 16 years as well.

OpheliaWitchoftheWoods · 16/02/2026 13:37

Oh God yes. Any MP not capable of sustaining themselves better than an eight year old on a wet lunch break should definitely be banned.

But I'd quite like intelligence tests, critical thinking tests, reading comprehension tests, and a psychology screening to look for capacity for objectivity and ability to follow codes and principles rather than obsess on personal hobby horses and see power merely as a means to their own advancement.

I think you will find it the other way round.

Why bother to comment on another thread when you are already on another one.

And imply there thread is the MAIN thread. It is just an option of how much or how little you want to discuss something.

You constantly imply that contributors to FWR need to have the right opinion given to them.

I dont nor does anyone else need to tell those on FWR that an opinion is wrong.

I expected most to just respond with a laugh emoji, but you seemed to think others on FWR had to be told how to think about her!

It is insulting.

I think this is the test. Any MP who mindlessly shares the GLP fantasy is clearly both bone idle and an ideologue and should be voted out come the next election
