Good Law Project are turning into Stonewall, aren't they?

Some Saturday morning musings after the dismissal of GLP's case against the EHRC yesterday. In no particular order:

  • GLP are telling people that the law is how they want it to be, not how it is
  • GLP are posturing and huffing around the place
  • They're putting out blatant misinformation, hoping that employers will be fooled
  • They're already fooling gullible MPs, who now think the Code of Practice should be rewritten (even though they haven't seen it 🙄)
  • They're setting themselves up as some sort of moral arbiters in all this
  • GLP loves spending other peole's money

When Stonewall imploded it clearly left a void, which the Grift Law Project seem happy to fill.

Your thoughts?

I think Stonewall did plenty of good in the decades before they went off the rails. I'm not sure the same can be said for the GLP.

Yes, I suppose I was thinking of late stage Stonewall. With all the TRA obfuscation and misinformation, and pressuring of employers and public bodies.

I agree, but they have missed all the sensible and trustworthy early stages. Basically C&Pd the insane end bit.

Rather like modelling your new society on the point where the Romans had gone insane from lead in their drinking water.

No.
Stonewall had status and credibility.

No, GLP is a one trick pony, it's a legal activist organisation run by a shyster lawyer, who fleeces gullible idiots to fund his expensive lifestyle and covers his con up by claiming to be a legal champion for the 'cause'. 👎

Well, yes.

This. They traded on that historic reputation for a long time before they successfully destroyed it.

I would think that the insane letter GLP just sent to Phillipson has fully achieved, if it hadn't already done so, knowledge that just because a group may have headed notepaper, a large social media presence and use the word 'law' in the title, it does not mean it's either factually correct or rational, and is not to be taken much notice of.

murasaki · 14/02/2026 11:09

Quite. Stonewall, quite rightly, had a lot of credit in the bank before they went full on tonto. Fox Killer's merry band of nutters doesn't have that.

One of the Directors of the Good Laugh Project is also a Director of Mumsnet.

Another thing I cannot get my head around.

And yet, at the last counting, at least three MPs have given them credibility and demanded the EHRC Code of Practice be rewritten.

That is what I mean by the "Stonewall void". You can fill a void far quicker than it takes to build up a reputation through hard work and knowledge.

That has to do with what I think it was Jo Bartosch? said last week, about much of Labour backbenchers being unreconstructed activists. Awful lot of void.

How do you figure that?

That there is a shared director.

Anyway, he seems to be a "growth strategist", raising money kind of guy.

I am enjoying their plea to EHRCwhich is seemingly based on the premise that the Government (paraphased) said they'd be nice to trans people so that makes the Supreme Court's judgment... illegal?

The sheer gumption it takes to lodge that with a straight face makes me wonder what they could achieve if they used their powers for good.

I figure that there is a shared director by being aware that there is a shared director.

And trans people, and MPs, are falling for it.

Here is trans Reddit, trying to drum up support for GLP after how they have behaved following Friday's drubbing. Because there is no-one else.

All the "trans advocacy" groups who love to sign open letters, are basically one bloke with his laptop and a wig.
