Absolutely terrifying. What can be done to stop men's obsession with porn and sexual gratification causing so much harm? Will they only start to care when it directly negatively impacts them, as in Eric's case? He was a happy consumer until he became the victim. His girlfriend is probably lucky it had the effect of stopping his 'enjoyment'; judging by all the news stories lately of men drugging their wives and so on, no doubt there are men who deliberately take their partners to hotels where they know cameras are fitted, although the BBC investigation didn't look into this aspect.

A designed image showing a generic hotel room, black wheelie suitcase, a standard lamp, a double bed with a white bedspread and blue, gold and black and white checked pillow, and the words REC with a red recording dot emblazoned over the top.

We had sex in a Chinese hotel, then found we had been broadcast to thousands

A couple who stayed in Shenzhen discovered their intimate moments were filmed as spy-cam porn.

I read that article creepy AF doesn't even begin to describe it🤮

GeneMcdanielsWalkwithawinnerNsoul · 06/02/2026 08:19

Horrible for Eric's partner to have such a creep in her life and to be part of that video
Poetic justice Eric played a starring role in his own perversion.

InconvenientlyMaterial · 06/02/2026 09:49

Cry me a fucking river, Eric

(was my response to reading that article)

Just read your longer comment on the AIBU section and thought this bit was excellent:

"Frankly I don't know how anything got done when men made up the majority in the workplace, particularly in positions of power, because it looks to me like none of them are actually doing any work, they're all wanking to tractor porn"

guinnessguzzler · 06/02/2026 10:49

Thanks @MarjorieWestriding I think all the news this week has just tipped me into permanent rant mode!

I don't blame you one bit, @guinnessguzzler It seems you can't look anywhere without seeing criminal perversion. This last week I've been all but speechless at what's been going on around us.

Greyskybluesky · 06/02/2026 10:59

I've always felt uneasy about the possibility of spycams in Airbnb's. I always assumed hotels were safer in that regard.

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 06/02/2026 11:23

I came on here to start a thread about this and was glad to find this one.

I appreciate the victims were both men and women, but the perpetrators are sure as hell all men.

It's frightening that so many men are happy to pay for this content. Including Eric. Who i don't feel one bit sorry for.

Dragonasaurus · 06/02/2026 11:51

I heard that senior politicians are advised to get changed under the bed covers - didn’t realise that this advice should now be extended to anyone staying in hotels in China, and maybe anywhere in the world.

Exactly!

wtf is wrong with these men? Are they incapable of empathy? Of imagining what something is like unless they are personally affected? Pathetic.

Keeptoiletssafe · 06/02/2026 12:24

I am not sure I can read this as I am still reeling from that article on Epstein on another thread. Don’t google about toilets and hidden cameras. They are in every setting you can imagine in this country. We need toilet cubicles to be as boring and plain as possible so cameras can be spotted more easily.

flyingbuttress43 · 06/02/2026 13:00

Sorry, but can't help laughing ironically at poor old Eric. When he's on the web ogling people have sex it's fine. When it's him being ogled, not so much. A much-needed life lesson for pervy blokes. Sorry for his girl friend - maybe not very sorry as she's still daft enough to be with him. She needs to dump him.

As an aside...the article says "Women are regularly described as sluts, whores and bitches". Hey chaps? What do you call the male sluts, whores and bitches?
Yay, good old double standards.

Tillow4ever · 06/02/2026 13:04

Sorry I didn’t find this before I posted in AIBU - you made some brilliant comments on my post if anyone hasn’t seen them!

GeneMcdanielsWalkwithawinnerNsoul · 06/02/2026 13:08

As said in other thread,it's horrible for the young woman to have Eric the creep in her life and be part of that video.
Eric on the other hand playing a starring role in his own perversion was poetic justice.

ClaudiasDreadfulEyeliner · 06/02/2026 13:13

Fuck Eric. Men like him are why this stuff exists. He wanted it, and he got it. Both ways.

GeneMcdanielsWalkwithawinnerNsoul · 06/02/2026 13:16

Sorry posted same post...DOH.

lcakethereforeIam · 06/02/2026 13:17

It's the face eating leopard party again. My sympathy goes to Eric's girlfriend. Why she's still with this pos is beyond me.
