WTF is going on? There are letters circulating with members alleging bullying, and anyone who asks a question is suspended and comments deleted. The leader calling everyone to urgent meetings with bizarre messaging: ‘there is no letter, and if there is it’s full of lies, and you can’t see the letter just trust us, and ooh look, something shiny!’ Should I cut my losses, cancel my standing order and just follow Let Women Speak?

I can assure the WRN apologists on this thread that I am not the author or subject of the letter and not motivated by “spite”. I find it fascinating that whilst being a group coordinator I am finding out far far more from this thread about WRN’s set up, ways of working and treatment of members than I have from any internal source, especially the bizarre ‘nothing to see here’ Zoom meetings. I haven’t even seen more than one letter, if there was one to all members it didn’t make it as far as my group.

No, I've asked, and I believe her when she has said no.

She may not have seen it - it was deleted within minutes. Read into that what you will.

In Scotland 62 women were dumped because they wanted to meet up in person to “ network “ not just have zoom meetings. The WRN Scotland coordinators decided, without any consideration or consent to break uo the long running Scotland wide group, and split up into 3 regional groups, which did not suit everyone.

My local group meets up socially as well as for events we organise and for national events. Because we cover a large county with not brilliant roads, we meet in two locations on either side the county.

Not everybody can come, of course: quite a few have caring or work events & a couple of us have disabilities.

moofolk · 10/02/2026 12:11

From what I’ve seen, local groups are losing members due to virulent racism.

Women with rounded politics & integrity just not able to stay. WhatsApp groups full of ‘stop the boats’ type really basic racism, a real focus on Muslim men as bogeymen, a trans obsession but no actual feminism.

Are you a member or ex member?

Or just repeating gossip you've heard down the pub?

Oh look the TRA troll has arrived!

While I'm here, apologies to @ThimbleThief for misunderstanding earlier.

AstonScrapingsNameChange · 10/02/2026 12:34

Indeed.

I don't know why you'd assume a group for women would have any other politics in common than feminism. We're all different. Some right wing, some left, some middle. Some pro brexit, some against. Pro immigration, anti immigration, Etc.

Its weird forced teaming to assume you'll all agree on everything, and if someone has different views to you, you have to flounce out and deem everyone to be 'not feminist'.

NameChangedWren · 10/02/2026 12:36

I’ve never seen racism in my WRN group, we have a real mixture of women and we respect different viewpoints. Most of our activism is supporting things Sex Matters or Standing for Women do, or the 12.05 protests that I think were a coalition of groups. WRN doesn’t also much that involves mere members, and when it does it’s often in London. We do meet up quite regularly though and do local actions such as meeting our MPs, challenging schools about gender ideology and supporting a member to leave a violent situation. All without being instructed by the leaders!

The second letter . . .

From : The members of North & South Buckinghamshire WRN
2 February 2026

Dear WRN Directors, Co-ordinators & Members

On 26 January 2026, the Buckinghamshire members wrote to the WRN Directors to raise serious governance concerns.

On 28 January 2026, all Buckinghamshire Co-ordinators, including Liz in her capacity as a Director, were suspended from WRN, ‘pending an investigation’. The stated reason given was an alleged “serious breach of WRN confidential information”, with the assertion that the letter had been “shared in many non-WRN groups”. We have offered to assist in the investigation regarding this allegation, as the Buckinghamshire members are also concerned and are still awaiting a response.

It has since come to our attention that rumours are circulating among WRN members across several regions. Many members have expressed concern and unease that committed and active members, including a serving Director, have been suspended following a request for an independent governance review. In the context of previous instances where groups of WRN members have departed under unclear circumstances, this action has inevitably led to further uncertainty. The most effective way to address this is through prompt transparency.

We therefore formally request that the Directors convene a WRN-wide Zoom meeting involving Liz and the Buckinghamshire Co-ordinators, open to the full WRN membership. This meeting would:

• Enable the Directors to question Liz and the Buckinghamshire team regarding any alleged inaccuracies in the letter of 26 January 2026, and to examine any alleged breach of confidentiality.

• Provide Liz and the Buckinghamshire team with an opportunity to respond directly to the serious allegations raised in their absence during the emergency Co-ordinator meetings held on 28 January 2026, including alleged breaches of confidentiality relating to personal and financial information.

• Allow discussion of the request for an independent governance review.

• Offer reassurance to the wider WRN membership by allowing members to ask
questions, either via their local Co-ordinators or through the meeting chat function.

Such a meeting would enable misunderstandings to be resolved, unfounded allegations to be addressed, and speculation to be brought to an end. It would also demonstrate clearly that governance concerns are treated seriously and examined fairly. Without a full WRN-wide meeting, it will be difficult to dispel concerns regarding procedural fairness or the handling of allegations, and continued uncertainty risks damaging the integrity and cohesion of WRN.

We believe that a transparent, inclusive meeting would allow this matter to be concluded constructively and enable all WRN members and directors to move forward together.

We ask that

  • this request be considered in advance of the Directors’ meeting scheduled for 5 February 2026 (you were able to arrange several calls within a few hours last week, so this can easily be achieved) and
  • that Liz’s proposed suspension be rescinded until the governance review is undertaken.

We look forward to receiving your response by 4 February 2026.

Yours faithfully

The members of North & South Buckinghamshire WRN

As someone who was purged in the WRN Scotland pogrom of June 2025 along with around 60 other members for daring to join a WhatsApp group which wasn’t policed by the WRN leaders, I totally agree with this opinion.
How can they aspire to become a charity if they are led by an autocratic oligarchy?

Wow!
Well, I haven't seen this letter distributed by WRN central even though it looks as though the Bucks group intended it to be shared with members.
I'm assuming no response has been received and that none of the requests were met?
Because as someone said way up the thread 'Heather's gonna Heather' 🙄

Maybe the poster thinks all women think the same, a bit like sheep. Rather than being full human beings with a range of opinions that - shock, horror - a feminist group likes to debate and discuss.

Are are any Directors currently being paid consultancy fees for work undertaken for WRN? If so, what governance arrangements are in place, how are conflicts of interest being managed, and why has this not been clearly communicated to the membership?

Niven · 10/02/2026 14:07

But they don’t allow their members with special expertise to represent them (police, education, law, healthcare) they just put the same people forward to chase the publicity.

I agree , they also dumped 2 women who were well experienced in their field because they disagreed with findings and pointed this out, was told that it didn’t matter…2 others left in solidarity.

Niven · 10/02/2026 14:29

The WRN Scotland leadership didn’t want any one to mention grooming gangs exploiting vulnerable female children. They shut the conversation down & sent private messages to those who agreed with it being worthy of discussion to tell them to change the subject. Surely that’s a feminist issue & one that affects children in Scotland?

Also told this by a number of women and it’s disgusting if it’s true. Multiple women saying the same thing.

Until today I thought everyone in WRN was a volunteer. Now it seems they do get expenses paid and maybe even fees. I feel like a fool - I actually thought this was women for women.

I agree that WRN Scotland would actively shut down conversations about grooming gangs exploiting vulnerable girls, when their very mission claims to champion women’s and girls’ rights. As one of the 62 women who was purged from WRN Scotland after daring to challenge this silencing firsthand, it felt not just disheartening, but like a stab in the back from a group that’s supposed to be our ally in the fight for women’s rights. I raised these concerns because they hit close to home for me, where these horrors aren’t some distant headline—they’re destroying lives in our own communities, and WRN’s refusal to engage feels like complicity in letting predators off the hook. The leader for WRN Scotland mentioned that she was against any further grooming gangs inquiries, effectively prioritising fear of controversy over the safety of Scottish children. And even with Afghan women, support was limited to holding silent vigils without being allowed to point out or highlight the root causes of their oppression—like religious and cultural patriarchy under the Taliban. This isn’t just selective silencing; it’s a consistent pattern of cowardice on issues involving broader cultural attitudes toward women and girls, all to dodge accusations of racism

So the “ordinary women” who were “just like everyone else” are actually feathering their own nests? Sad that it doesn’t surprise me in the least.
