WTF is going on? There are letters circulating with members alleging bullying, and anyone who asks a question is suspended and comments deleted. The leader calling everyone to urgent meetings with bizarre messaging: ‘there is no letter, and if there is it’s full of lies, and you can’t see the letter just trust us, and ooh look, something shiny!’ Should I cut my losses, cancel my standing order and just follow Let Women Speak?

I just can’t follow what is happening here- could someone articulate what exactly is WRN being accused of?

Effitall · 27/02/2026 11:24

I became part of the WRN to stand for the rights of all women and children, not to enable the authority or ego of a single person.

To silence and remove members from a space that speaks so much about sisterhood without dialogue, transparency, or accountability is extremely disappointing and feels like a betrayal of the very principles the WRN brought women together to defend.

Exactly so.

Maybe you could ask AI to summarise the thread if you’re unable to read and comprehend it.

The biggest gripe seems to be that WRN has disciplinary processes and rules around confidentiality which are enforced.
There seems to be a small group of women intent on venting and finding fault with the leadership, website, reports, television interviews being restricted to a handful of women from the leadership team, you name it.
Despite their many complaints on this thread, WRN is far from 'imploding'
As my mum used to say, 'success breeds jealousy'.
Also, 'there are some who talk, and some who just get on with it'

Effitall · 27/02/2026 12:27

Trivialising genuine concerns around governance and compliance, silencing women, refusing to engage in open and transparent discussion to resolve issues - where I have I seen this type of behaviour before?

Shame on you.

LilyCraven · 27/02/2026 12:39

Unusualdog · 25/02/2026 16:32

In fairness tinsel, surely you will admit the WRN do much much more work than you do? Collecting 20 women’s stories and hanging out on Mumsnet is not remotely comparable to the massive level of work of WRN. There are thousands of trans widows out there, your website, while much needed, is a tiny effort

I realise this is off-topic but I couldn’t let this go unchallenged.

To my certain knowledge, Tinsel Angel does considerably more than just “collect 20 women’s stories and hang out on Mumsnet”. No, I am not going to list her achievements. Much of it is done quietly, for very good reason.

It put me in mind of the rather facile response from a They/Them on X to the article in The Times reporting that two members of the Women of Wessex were seeking judicial review against Bristol City Council. “So what? There’s only two of you anyway”, he said.

Is that you Heather?

I’m in Bucks. I’ve had an email this morning telling me I’ve been booted out. I’m not on any committees or subgroups or whatever. I haven’t breached any confidentiality. My sin is ‘being a member in Bucks’. So ‘kindly’, “disciplinary processes” my arse.

gonnarunoutofnames · 27/02/2026 13:22

That’s the one @Seriestwo

HasItImplodedYet · 27/02/2026 13:28

Right, so now we get to see the other side of this very partisan thread, and it turns out that there was fire to go with the smoke, as was suggested way back at the start.

Start your own group, Bucks, and show the rest of us how to do that without leadership, structure or discipline. Looking forward to seeing what you can achieve.

You can apply to rejoin, if you think you have been unfairly caught in the net

“The net”… of what? This happened in Scotland. Stop making women feel like they’ve done something wrong when they aren’t “employed” they came to do grass roots organising and found an unbearable boss instead.

This letter? https://x.com/jeanhatchet/status/2027348641019482418?s=46

Presumably someone is unhappy and have Jean the letter to ask her to share it.

Can confirm that I take instructions from no one. I’m not part of any group except me and my missus.

Guilty until proven innocent, hey? What a way to run an organisation. Especially one that claims to have “disciplinary processes”.

One person's unbearable boss is someone else's firm manager. I doubt that the women are so fragile that my opinions are making them feel guilty of anything, but I'm sure that you have their permission to speak for them.

The email you posted contradicts a lot of what is on this thread, all 22 pages of it.. That's it.

An email from a person covering their own ass? 🤣

But as in previous post you had to search for it. And you could only search for it because someone told you about it.

How could you search for it if you didn't know it existed!

And serious, this idea that so many on FWR have than posting on X is a way to reach out to other women is just not accepting the reality that X is one of the least used SM platforms, and apart from a few who against all feminist principles, a social media platform that other feminist activists have left.

On one level I dont care because it seems from this thread that WRN is more abour a shared experience for members - and possibly based on the experiences women have recounted here, that those members then provide a platform for a few to evevate themselves.

So my response to it could be that I foolish thought it was a campaign group and would therefore prioritise been not just accessible in terms of disability discrimination, but also in terms of someone visting from the first time and having no idea what the organisation actually does, have ways of finding out.

So if it isn't a campaign group and that was my assumption, but in fact more a shared experience and support for members, then of course it doesn't matter how accessible the web site is, it members really on the core group distributing information as and when it feels they should know.

(I do in fact know groups who function like this and do some good work, but effectively the sharing of doing the work is the actual purpose of the group - sort of political bonding - and the output a secondary by product.)

I covered that in my post that you quoted.

No disagreement there but I said "social media" not X. WRN has a Linktree showing that they post on a variety of social media. Whether the report has been promoted across their social media presence, I have no idea.

Web site accessibility and navigation would still be important. I could give them some more tips for free but it sounds like the sort of thing that might attract a WRN Consultancy Fee if you know the right people.

Yes, using all of GC women in a variety of ways that suit their various strengths and weaknesses to get the fucking men out of women's stuff and out of children's bodies. Same as you???
