🚨 Why have Northumbria Police @northumbriapol commissioned a survey 👇 targeted at 18-25 yr olds using highly contested ideological language, to inform them how to ‘engage’ with the @ForWomenScot Supreme Court ruling?

Just comply with the law!

The academics behind this are known to be pro trans stuff. There’s also other well known tra academics at the university.

You seem to be able to complete it more than once.

And we all know how obsessive and how much time on their hands those who lie about their sex have.

It is the very definition of a pointless exercise which is not going to resolve anything, nor indeed provide any reliable or useful information.

Tunnocksmilkchocolatemallow · 24/01/2026 11:00

I wonder if they will just get rid of all the ‘wrong’ answers…

MrsM1ggins · 24/01/2026 11:02

I've FOI'd Northumbria Police about this.

I completed that - and had a lot of fun in the process.

What a bunch of idiots they are.

I wonder whether 'were approached by Northumbria Police to undertake this research' is doing a lot of heavy lifting.

Have Northumbria Police just been roped in as a practical real world example to help undergraduates learn how to do research?

Is this just course work?

If the Northumbria Police did not action/commission the work first IMO that should be a serious breach of ethic and a serious fine attaching Data Processing breach for the Uni.

It would be a Data Processing breach as the data subject is being lied to from the start as an inducement to provide data.

I'm imagining a class of undergraduates 'working' with Northumbria Police in the sense that somebody from Northumbria police gives a talk on how sociology impacts police work, and then the students go off and do their course work coming up with surveys on various subjects, and Northumbria Police politely tells them its all very helpful and throws it all in the bin.

Thank you MrsM1ggins for doing the FOI.

Could be
But

are working with Northumbria Police

If the police commissioned a body of work and it points out problems which come to pass the Force have to take ownership of the fact that the most senior members of staff were on notice.

Association of name and acting as an "commissioning agent" is one thing all the business I have worked at are very clear about. Its basic brand protection. If your role lacks the authority you must make that clear and get signoff from the appropiate level of management.

And thanks to @MrsM1ggins the police can explain which it waa.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 23/01/2026 14:24

Quite unbelievable until you look at the track record of this particular force and their Chief Constable. Evidently being humiliated in court for displaying political bias by officers at Pride wasn't enough. Nor was having to reverse her desire for policemen claiming to be women to be allowed to sexually assault women under the guise of strip searching them.

Why is she still in a job?

I was going to say it’s unbelievable. But it’s all too horribly believable.

Yes - very much hope we find out.

Apart from anything else, regardless of the subject, why are the police getting involved with such a badly designed survey?

LeftieRightsHoarder · 24/01/2026 12:28

Good to know there’s no actual crime being committed in Northumbria, so police have nothing better to do than ask people pointless questions.

Tunnocksmilkchocolatemallow · 24/01/2026 14:06

If they were really interested in young people’s understanding of the SC ruling they should start with their own researchers who seem not to understand how rulings work and that there has been no new law. Plus a short course on ‘bias’ though I expect the survey is already the result of someone who has undergone ‘unconscious bias and micro aggression’ training.

Why is the Uni?

Basic data collection and designer bias should be taught to anybody who is doing reserch under the Uni brand.

If its supervised or under oversight the staff involved are either unqualified and cant see the bias or see a problem and allow it to run.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 24/01/2026 18:10

I decided that I identify as 25. If you can be trans gender then surely you can be trans age.

Don’t think they are going to like my replies about police impartiality.

RawBloomers · 24/01/2026 18:24

nicepotoftea · 23/01/2026 18:33

Am I missing something obvious? I genuinely can't understand why the SC ruling would be relevant to the police's engagement with people between the ages of 18 and 25 - and why, if it would be relevant to them it wouldn't be relevant to older people.

What do they think the SC ruling has changed?

Is it not age discrimination for the police to only survey opinions of a select range of people on a matter that is universal?

RawBloomers · 24/01/2026 18:24

Well quite - but the great thing about discrimination laws in the UK is that they can easily be circumvented by identifying as something else. 18-25 schmenty five.

Good point
If they are going to write policy or enact change its would be also likely be a breach of the Public Sector Equality Duty section of the EA10

JanesLittleGirl · 24/01/2026 22:48

I might have completed a dozen iterations of this using different IP addresses and slight variations in the responses. I don't think that any of them are what either Northumbria Police or Sunderland University expected.

Sad times.

Maryberrysbouffant · 24/01/2026 23:03

I enjoyed filling that in (I am 23)

onlytherain · 25/01/2026 17:56

What is the point of ethics committees if they approve studies like this? This is research on sex and gender, so why are they not adhering to the recommendations of the Sullivan review? Why are highly contested terms deemed acceptable? Why is clear bias deemed ethical? The ethics committee should be facing disciplinary action.

ArabellaScott · 25/01/2026 18:01

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 23/01/2026 14:25

The SC is the highest authority on the law in the land, the police service are the law enforcement agency, they don't get to survey opinions on the law, their just required to enforce them. No more, no less, just do your jobs coppers.

Sack whoever authorised this, and bin the survey because the law isn't a popularity contest, the law is the law abide by it or suffer the consequences.

This. Ridiculous. Since when did the police survey people for opinions on the law?!

I mean, I have some. 😁

TbF they do ask ones opinion on speed limits and other fancy road rules but that maaaaay be so that it can be quoted in Court
💅🤷‍♀️

And why would a TRA actually give their data to a Genocidal Police Collabrator (or some such) .......

The Uni world will be shocked when Regulation rolls down to the personal level.
