🚨 Why have Northumbria Police @northumbriapol commissioned a survey 👇 targeted at 18-25 yr olds using highly contested ideological language, to inform them how to ‘engage’ with the @ForWomenScot Supreme Court ruling?

Just comply with the law!

## Highlights

You are being invited to take part in a research study. Before you decide, it is important that you read this information sheet carefully, so you understand what the study involves. If you have any questions about the following information, please get in touch with a member of the research team – contact details are given at the end of the sheet.

Study Title: Young People's understandings of the UK Supreme Court ruling on the For Women Scotland v Scottish Ministers case.

Study Title: Young People's understandings of the UK Supreme Court ruling on the For Women Scotland v Scottish Ministers case.

What is the purpose of the study?

On 16 April 2025 the UK Supreme Court provided its ruling on the For Women Scotland v Scottish Ministers. The court concluded that the terms "man," "woman," and "sex" in the Equality Act 2010 refer to biological sex, emphasizing that the definition of "woman" is limited to biological women and does not include trans women with a Gender Recognition Certificate (GRC). This study is interested in young people’s understandings and perspectives of the Supreme Court ruling and how this might affect how the police interact with trans and non-binary people.

Researchers at the University of Sunderland were approached by Northumbria Police to undertake this research. They are interested in the views of young people to help inform their review of policies in this area. The research team do not work for the police.

This survey is being carried out by the University of Sunderland @sunderlanduni and was commissioned by Northumbria Police.
It will have been authorised at the highest level.

The Chief Constable is Vanessa Jardine, National Police Chiefs Council lead @policechiefs for ‘LGBTQ+’ issues.

The very same chief who was responsible for the unlawful strip search policy based on self ID. #StateSanctionedSexualAssault

Has there ever been another tiny minority that is lavished with so much attention, money and preferential treatment?
If only they could have spent all the millions on creating third spaces instead.

Chersfrozenface · 23/01/2026 12:31

Is there any point in complaining to the Northumbria Police and Crime Commissioner, Susan Dungworth?

Call me an old cynic, but I'm guessing it's to justify completely ignoring the FWS Supreme Court ruling because the sacred caste must be pandered to.

lcakethereforeIam · 23/01/2026 12:55

Why don't they commission a survey on how young people feel about laws on drugs or speeding, or young men on how they feel about laws on consent or sexual assault? Immigrants on immigration laws?

Isn't this outside the scope of what the Police are supposed to do?

CultureAndFisheriesTsarina · 23/01/2026 13:00

Anyone who identifies as 18 to 25 can fill it in😘It's already useless

Exactly. A complete waste of resources. Is there any hope the proposed reorganisation of police forces will stop this idiocy.

For which other law does the police ask people’s opnion and how and if they should follow it. It’s the job of the police to uphold the law not as people’s opinions on it.

Perhaps more pertinently, the Supreme Court ruling does not relate to criminal law, it relates to equalities law. So it's hard to see why the police need to get involved at all.

So they don't suggest you get support from SexMatters, or Transgender Trend, or any of the other pro-reality groups? Or are trans people the only ones affected by this ruling? (rhetorical question)

MrsOvertonsWindow · 23/01/2026 14:24

Quite unbelievable until you look at the track record of this particular force and their Chief Constable. Evidently being humiliated in court for displaying political bias by officers at Pride wasn't enough. Nor was having to reverse her desire for policemen claiming to be women to be allowed to sexually assault women under the guise of strip searching them.

Why is she still in a job?

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 23/01/2026 14:25

The SC is the highest authority on the law in the land, the police service are the law enforcement agency, they don't get to survey opinions on the law, their just required to enforce them. No more, no less, just do your jobs coppers.

Sack whoever authorised this, and bin the survey because the law isn't a popularity contest, the law is the law abide by it or suffer the consequences.

silverwrath · 23/01/2026 14:42

I was under the impression their job was to enforce the law. Not challenge it.

How many other laws are they planning on picking apart?

Shabana Mahmood is clearly too busy slashing police forces to pay attention to the machinations of Northumbria Police.

I'm hoping the cuts will focus on real issues and crime instead of policing led by interest groups. But who knows?
From BBC
Mahmood will argue in a policy proposal that the current model of 43 forces is bureaucratic and wastes money, with each force running their own headquarters, management teams and backroom staff.

Ministers also believe the performance of local forces varies too widely across England. They believe smaller forces are less well equipped to deal with serious crime and respond to major incidents.

Mahmood is expected to say new, larger forces should focus on tackling serious and organised crime, as well as complex cases like murder and drugs.

Isn't this muddling the separation of power? It is not the police's business to worry about how people feel about laws. That is the legislative's job.

Kucinghitam · 23/01/2026 15:22

Bloody hell. These people have no shame. Not that I should be surprised, seeing as TRSOHers have repeatedly displayed this.

Dollymylove · 23/01/2026 15:28

I thought the police had been told to stop engaging in all this woke nonsense and start doing what we pay them fore, i:e apprehending criminals and keeping the public safe. Did Northumbria Police not get the memo?

onlytherain · 23/01/2026 15:46

To them, there is only one side to this. How to tell women and girls they don't matter, without telling them.

That said, I have actually been 18 to 25 (was for a whole seven years, a few decades ago) whereas I have never been a man.

Shedmistress · 23/01/2026 15:52

The police are surveying people about how they feel about the law?

Wow.

I thought so as well. But self important senior officers have often felt able to ignore laws, good practice and the needs of the population if they clash with their wishes. Remember the Met abandoned vetting procedures in favour of DEI initiatives - resulting in them appointing rapists and other unsuitable individuals. When it comes to competing rights, the rights of the public to be safeguarded is well down on the lists of these powerful well paid fools:

Rapists among Metropolitan Police officers not properly vetted

David Carrick and Cliff Mitchell were among 131 Met staff who were not vetted properly, a report finds.

"...bureaucratic and wastes money, with each force running their own headquarters, management teams and backroom staff."

She could start by cancelling all the DEI jobs and activist groups, she could save a pretty penny straight away.

ContentedAlpaca · 23/01/2026 17:06

I've filled it in. I've told them which venues within their patch are problematic for women and why,. Because of the uselessness of a neighbouring force it's doubly important that women have safe spaces in that area.
