Labour council tells staff to announce pronouns before meetings

Wandsworth says adding the <a class="break-all" href="https://archive.is/o/HIdDV/www.telegraph.co.uk/family/life/ze-guide-modern-gender-pronouns/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">pronouns such as ze/zir/zem to email signatures and announcing them at the start of meetings is a “simple step” towards this.

The memo says: “Up until recently, the only pronouns most people had heard of he/him/his and she/her/hers.

“However, as the non-binary community has become more visible, more people are becoming aware of non-gendered pronouns such as they/them/theirs and ze/zir/zem.

“Adding our pronouns to our email signatures, MS365 profiles, social media profiles and saying them at the start of meetings is a simple step cisgender people can take to enable those from the non-binary and transgender communities to feel more seen and recognised.”

“Ze/zir/zem” are all gender pronouns and are used by some transgender, non-binary or gender-non-conforming people.

Even the MOJ has given up on pronouns, Wandsworth is SO behind the times. I am dying for someone to ask me my pronouns but noone ever does.

Happily we seem to be entering a post fad era. The corporate world is rapidly shedding itself of this happy clappy bs now they see the wind is changing direction.

That's very refreshing to hear.

A couple of years ago I had a very frustrating meeting with MOJ about a H&S issue that is only relevant to pregnant women.

Their representatives on the call were constantly talking about 'people with female reproductive organs'.

I made a point of looking directly in the camera to say 'you need to consider the situation where a woman may be in the early stages of pregnancy but be unaware of this.

I think rumours of the demise of pronouns etc., are greatly exaggerated.

Many of us on FWR might feel confident we wouldn't get pulled into complaince with this.

And hard as it is to accept people are still influenced by Stonewall etc..

And newspaper reporting of various nurses challenging changing room policy are not presented in a joined up way. So many may tut tut about the insult to the nurseries but wont really register or be concerned about pronouns.

And in case anyone thinks it is waning, there was a new thread only this week where the NHS now has a form for new borns to be registered, by "assigned at birth" and by "gender identity".

And in this instance we have politicians abusing their position to impose a belief system on employees.

No doubt there will be an expensive court case soon, from someone challenging the Council’s right to do this….
I wish it would just all fuck off and we can get the potholes filled and the bins emptied.
