An expert tasked with assessing Northern Ireland’s gender identity provision has recommended aligning services in the province with England – with Stormont’s health department welcoming the “beginning of a collaborative relationship” across the UK.

Baroness Hilary Cass – who authored a landmark review of trans services for children – has now submitted a draft report to health minister Mike Nesbitt – with a final report expected by the end of this month.

She was called in by Mr Nesbitt last year following controversy over his announcement of new ‘lifespan’ service for people of any age questioning their gender. Unionist MLAs, including some in the minister’s own party, questioned the fact there was no lower age limit on referrals to the clinic.

Thanks, not too much if a surprise with it being Northern Ireland. I'd hope it spreads southwards a bit but I won't hold my breath

What do you mean you hope it spreads south? I don’t want any of those centres in Southern Ireland. They're a disaster

Ah don’t call it Southern Ireland! 😅
I’m assuming you’re Irish so don’t encourage the wrong name 🫣
It’s said on here enough as it is.
(Sorry, totally off the point I know.)
