Glinner Bullseye comment on X

Thatcatsaflippingnightmare · 09/01/2026 20:41

Always trying to explain Glinner to DH, today he showed me on X JD Vance defending murder of the woman by ICE. Glinner had replied something like 'bullseye', as in agreement. I tried to comprehend with "satire?" but he said no he's on Liz truss show these days. I said well he's always been about protecting women and children, he's not suddenly supporting femicide, but the post convinced DH otherwise. Any insights? I'm not on social media

Okay, how about if I describe it as a negatively parasocial relationship instead? In that you have a one-sided, unreciprocated, intense belief of possessing innermost knowledge about him as your enemy.

What I'm trying to say is that your intense dislike of this man that you don't know is leading you to describe him in vitriolic terms that include a lot of mind reading on your part. You can describe his actions, but you can't know what his thoughts are.

You don't have to like him, or agree with him - to be honest, he can be a hard person to like - but I don't see how you can confidently state the motivations behind his actions.

I agree. And no that is not me “defending” or “excusing” his comments, it was an extraordinarily awful retweet. But I do think certain posters are so convinced of their goodies and baddies worldview that they can’t see anything else.

Big lol at that. No, I’m not being “told off” because I’m not accountable to you for anything. Your criticism doesn’t bother me because I can see exactly what you’re doing and as I said, all these threads go exactly the same way.

I'm finding this thread informative, interesting, thought provoking, hopeful and challenging. From a feminist perspective.

I havent seen a thread like this on FWR in a long time. And I'm grateful for every single post. Thanks

General to who, exactly? Who are you talking to?

The more right-leaning posters on this board. Those that applaud an action of Trump’s (“I can like one thing a person does but not others!) over and over again, and KJK, Glinner, all the time suggesting they are politically homeless while laughing at what stupid leftists do. Those people.

I certainly wasn’t suggesting you’re one of those, so I made sure to say so.

I was posting in response to the person who said this was a feminist board.

It might be where arguments about feminism and women's rights are well, argued but it stopped being feminist when men were told they could report women, as I said, by contacting MNHQ on twitter to get users banned for upsetting them. This went on for years.

Wow. You should let MNHQ know about this terrible state of affairs, including the fact that actual men are currently posting on the board too.

Can’t people laugh at extremists whatever their political stripe? Pretending men are women is always going to be absurd.

You're the one who's going on about feeling scolded though if anyone says something you don't like.
So if you don't think you're being told off (scolded means the same) why are you wanging on about being scolded?

selffellatingouroborosofhate · 13/01/2026 02:09

ItsNotOrwell · 13/01/2026 00:33

Why are posters making excuses for Glinner retweeting a tweet calling for the repeal of the 19th amendment? Women supporting a man calling for the end of the vote for women in the US? Even if he didn’t read it properly - and I don’t think that for a moment - it’s inexcusable.

This is a feminist board.

I asked for evidence, not to defend him, but in the hope that it was untrue, a false flag operation. I've since found it in his feed. I am heartily disappointed.

Moral of the story: trust no one.

MNHQ know about the offer they made to men on twitter, why would I alert them to their own actions?

I have no idea, MNHQ have never said they stopped it. The years it went on for might well carry on for many more, who knows.

I’m wanging on about certain posters’ need to scold. I don’t really give a shiny shit what they think, so it’s just an observation 🤷‍♀️ hope that helps.

It’s surprising that long term regular posters (which I know the pp to be) weren’t aware of this policy.

WowFantastic · 13/01/2026 01:24

Of course. It was in response to you saying this regarding Renee Good being shot:

I have not said that. I have explicitly said that we cannot know exactly what happened and that it would be prudent to await the outcome of the inquest, or whatever type of investigation the US have in these cases. What I have said is that annoying men with guns is a lot more likely to result in them shooting you than not annoying them is, especially when the State has armed those men. I have said that compliance with such men maximises your chance of walking away from the encounter. I have not endorsed this reality, but merely described. Read what I actually write. Don't add extra words or meanings that aren't actually there. Don't fabricate opinions and ascribe them to me.

Anyway, I said was bowing out, so here’s hoping things improve for all women as these are terrifying times.

Edited

Given your clear use of sarcasm in that context, am I correct in thinking that you believe that a woman should defy armed men if she believes that those men are "busy setting up a dictatorship"? Can you perhaps think of why that might be an ill-advised course of action?

Yes, women have been shot whilst behaving completely compliantly; yes, it's always the man's choice to be violent; and at the same time the man is more likely to lose his temper if she doesn't appease him. This is "Surviving Abusive Men 101".

Back to “laughing at leftists”. It’s so predictable.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/01/2026 02:27

Why can’t people laugh at extremists? Do you think people don’t laugh at right wing extremists? I can link you to plenty on here alone.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/01/2026 02:29

Have you genuinely never laughed at the excesses of Trump or made fun of Farage, @ItsNotOrwell?

ItsNotOrwell · 13/01/2026 02:33

When I write “laughing at leftists”, I mean ‘making fun of them’ in a demeaning, derisory manner.

And no, I don’t laugh at anything Trump does and I have no interest in Farage.

I wonder if they know that a director of MN is also a director of the Good Law Project? Who directly take millions in funds to run cases in total objection to FWR.

persephonia · 09/01/2026 23:53

When you get trapped in a very siege like way of thinking people on the other side stop seeming like human beings. It's not unique to a particular political viewpoint, it's an unfortunate human phenomenon. Although that said some right wing thought leaders are actually encouraging it (toxic empathy being a new buzzword). Urgh.

Yes, I think this is the biggest problem in political discourse today. Social media has exacerbated the tribalism exponentially.

Good for you, if that’s your principle. Some people find laughing at terrible stuff helps. You can’t honestly say that you aren’t aware of many people mocking and being demeaning and derisory about people on the right though, can you?

Up to them, obviously. He clearly hasn’t had the same influence as that “father of an adult trans woman” who used his influence to control policy and fatally torpedoed the “Women’s” Equality Party.
