That's Gemini's interpretation. It seems to think I keep Mr Magpie in the fridge.

One way of keeping a relationship fresh, I supposeSmile

I've just noticed the #1 trending thread is
AIBU for leaving my boyfriend in the frozen isle?
Start as you mean to go on, eh?😁

RandomHypatia · 21/12/2025 16:53

I have a family connection with Spain and as a child I'd leave out a shoe on the 5th January for the 3 kings to fill with sweets on the 6th. We still did Christmas with stockings so luckily it was additional rather than instead of (stockings definitely hold more stuff).

FuzzyPuffling · 21/12/2025 17:08

The sadness in our house is not abating. Today we have both been really tired and sad. We've only eaten toast.
Bugger Christmas too.

FlowersBrew I’m sorry, fuzzy. I hope you’ve been able to rest with no other demands on you.

DeanElderberry · 21/12/2025 17:18

Fuzzers, it's been a long (first half of) winter.

MarieDeGournay · 21/12/2025 17:20

Sorry you and DH are feeling so low. It's worse because 'tis the season', and you don't feel at all like 'being jolly'.
Take care of yourselves and each other, and there's always a warm spot by the fire in the Bluey and the Staunch Ally💙

Happy Rush Day everyone. I'm not sure if that's actually a thing or if I've just invented it.

Myrtle's allowed to be upset about the car, & you're both allowed to mourn for as long as you need to. In real life, I mean, as well as here. 💙

I don't know about Rush Day, but it's certainly National Robin Day today.

Much support and sympathy to all in need of it.

Myrtle, I know what you mean about being taught to be grateful and then trying to deal with someone else's cock-up spoiling something good. Years ago when the DC were small, we splashed out on valet parking, so that the car would be waiting for us outside the airport when we stumbled bleary-eyed off the plane. It wasn't there, and I was livid, because I'd rather have been wrangling tired and fractious DC on an airport bus out to Long Stay Car Park Stop ZZ for 20 mins, than doing the same on a fairly narrow concrete strip between two lanes of constantly moving traffic.

I knew it was a supreme first world problem, so I felt a complete spoilt cow, and I couldn't even properly lose my shit as the DC were there and I felt obliged to set a good example of patience and forebearance.

And Fuzzy, this is a horrible time of year to feel sad. Everywhere you go there is jollity, both real and forced, in insulting abundance, and happy little twinkling lights, and good-hearted people wishing you a happy Christmas. It's okay to be sad, but it's bloody hard right now.

FuzzyPuffling · 21/12/2025 20:18

Thanks Edith. It's the grief for DH's friend. So full of life...then gone. Always an empty place at the table now.

SionnachRuadh · 21/12/2025 22:03

All my sympathy to everyone having a tough time right now.

Here's a snow leopard being silly.

Snow leopards are so incredibly fluffy! I really want to cuddle one, whilst realising that would actually be a very bad idea.

That is a very large Robin!

I tried to find a picture of a robin standing next to a magpie to compare sizes but it was very hard. Borrowed this photograph from a bird appreciation site on Facebook. I don't think magpies and robins ever actually like to stand next to each other when they're not in the bluestocking.

lcedcakethereforeIam · 21/12/2025 23:42

I think the magpie is far away.

This is such a genius comment, I just wasted spent three quarters of an hour trying to make the AI represent a picture of a robin and a magpie where the magpie was firstly not further away, and secondly further away. Fiff faff squidge splidge blather mither ...

Finally! Goodness gracious! now I must go to bed.

Good morning!

Six and a half hours of sleep!

Thank you to the Sleep Gerbil!

💙

The Dream Gerbil must have been helping someone else because it was a dreamless sleep.

Magpiecomplex · 22/12/2025 09:24

I think I had the dream gerbil. Unfortunately I dreamt about timetabling.

I'd say that was three quarters of an hour well spent!

So glad you slept well @MyrtleLion

Perhaps sorting timetables in your sleep means you don't need to do them in waking hours @Magpiecomplex ? Wouldn't that be lovely?

EdithStourton · 22/12/2025 09:45

You don't tend to see robins chumming up with magpies IRL because they know the magpies will have their babies for breakfast...

But obvs in the Bluey that doesn't happen, Magpie can be trusted around any infant robins, and Myrtle can safely lie down with the lambs, pygmy goats and small rodents.

That would be amazing if it works, Stars! If only I could figure out how to order the dream I want/need at the point I need it. Some experimentation needed, I think.
