Scottish Labour MSP Pam Duncan-Glancy has quit her frontbench role after admitting a "serious error of personal judgement" over a friendship with a convicted sex offender.

All these things Labour made hay over when it was the Tories in power and they’re just the same, only more sanctimonious.

Pleasantsort2 · 06/12/2025 05:24

She is a TWAW fanatic. Should be made to resign her seat for that. Absolutely vile.

deadpan · 06/12/2025 06:13

It doesn't have anything to do with which side of the political spectrum you're on, both sides and probably all areas in between, have members who've consumed this kind of material.
I'm just surprised anyone has anything to do with them once they find out. There's no way I'd want to have anything to do with a person who's looked at and/or downloaded such awful images.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 06/12/2025 10:01

How could anyone have anything to do with a convicted child sex offender?

Along with her TWAW stance she’s been a massive disappointment.

Exactly. Who the hell hangs out with someone like that, knowing they have accessed material like that ? She should be made to resign her seat. Dodgy as hell. Her judgment is lacking.

"serious error of personal judgement"

Yes. The whole lot of them.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 06/12/2025 18:01

Funny how often there are sex offenders in the vicinity of those insisting that girls and women must submit to compelled mixed sex undressing.
Such a coincidence.

Happens so often, doesn't it ?

Hoardasurass · 06/12/2025 19:46

Given her twaw stance I've always wondered how she'd react if a transwomen turned up to do her personal care, maybe she'd be fine with a man in a dress doing her intimate care however I suspect she'd quickly change her tune on tw

Must admit it was the continuing to be in touch with a sex offender that got me.

Even if someone had served their sentence, I dont see how you could.

Sorry if that's not very compassionate!

I don’t know her motivations in keeping in touch with this bloke but I find it amazing how some people are determined to minimise the seriousness of images of children (including pseudo images) by claiming that it protects children from more serious harm. It ignores that a child has been harmed in order to produce the images and refuses to acknowledge the real risk of an escalation in behaviour once the thrill of just images no longer produces the desired effect.

I think these guys avoid prison because they are too many of them and they would take up too much space in the prison estate.

weegielass · 07/12/2025 08:29

Scottish Labour supporters are all feeling very sorry for her, talking about how she's 'vulnerable' and 'a role model'.
As a disabled person myself, I just want to say being disabled doesn't mean you're allowed to be friends with a sex offender. Being disabled is not an excuse.

Yep. Same . These offenders cannot change without specialist help, if at all. She is completely deluded if she think she can "help" him and I don't think she is stupid at all.

I have met the delightful Pam and I am not going to say how as it is too outing and vulnerable she is not. Maybe in a general sense as a disabled woman but she is another one who was very happy to throw women's rights under a bus for men in dresses. Couldn't give a damn about the rights of disadvantaged, abused women in jail sharing prison estate with males either ! Another career politician!

Chersfrozenface · 21/12/2025 20:08

She has decided not to stand in the upcoming elections.

Did someone have a word?

guinnessguzzler · 24/01/2026 20:57

Resurrecting this as I've now read in the Record (from a week or so ago) that he was jailed last year after re-offending and Pam then met up with him after he got out. So I'm guessing that's why she agreed not to stand again relatively easily as she would have known that could easily be uncovered.

I think first time round he claimed he had been sent unsolicited images. Absolutely not excusing it but I can see how if it was someone who you'd been close to for a long time you might fall for that explanation, although you'd expect a politician not to be so naive. Second time makes it clear he definitely sought this stuff out so there is no getting away from that but she still stayed friends with him. It's pretty hard to come back from that. I used to know her and am really disappointed.

Seriestwo · 25/01/2026 08:08

She’s a safeguarding risk.

Chersfrozenface · 11/02/2026 13:55

The latest.

"MSP Pam Duncan-Glancy has been suspended from Labour's Scottish parliamentary party while it investigates her links with a convicted sex offender.

Duncan-Glancy stood down as her party's education spokesperson in December and said she would leave Holyrood in May after revelations about her friendship with former Moray councillor Sean Morton."

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cdjmemr1mxgo

Andrew Kerr's analysis at the end is interesting, especially the last paragraph.

If you're on TwiX, Gabriel Pogrund of the Sunday Times has been all over the Matthew Doyle story from the get go, and has set out timelines showing when investigations were undertaken, at what points Doyle's peerage could have been blocked, and what No10 are not telling us.

It looks very much as if No10 were well aware of Doyle's links to Morton, but as always, Starmer couldn't do anything because "process".

This is of course the same Matthew Doyle who, while a Labour press officer whose job was supposedly leading on attack lines against the Tory government, was taking time out to brief against Rosie Duffield.

It's amazing, isn't it, how often there is a nonce in the background in these cases.

Indeed Sionnach. Idk if it’s worth making a thread for that piece?

SinnerBoy · 11/02/2026 15:17

I was going to mention Doyle, in the interest of balance.

Chersfrozenface · 11/02/2026 15:20

Looks like Kemi Badenoch is laying into Keir Starmer.

And Starmer is going for the "He lied to me, I didn't know" shtick. Again.

It's amazing, isn't it, how often there is a nonce in the background in these cases.

I was pleased to see Baroness Ayesha Hazarika asked on Times Radio "What's happened to the nonce detector in Downing Street?"

I know she's one of the TWAW brigade but eventually she, Harman etc will have to join up the dots about why so many of their male colleagues are so enthusiastic about women and girls not being allowed boundaries

SionnachRuadh · 11/02/2026 15:43

I'm not a massive fan of La Hazarika, but I get the sense she'd like Labour to be competent, and she's looking at the current Downing Street operation and going "WTF?"

Yeah, Labour men who are really enthusiastic about breaking down women's boundaries should be something she thinks about. If the blind spot is always in the same place, it's not a blind spot.
