Slightly obfuscated thread title, and I know my sense of humour is on the naughty step, but I was amused to listen to "One Person Found This Helpful" (BBC R4) where Dee Allum (yes, I had to look that one up too) was forced to crowbar "as a trans" into an answer because on radio nobody could tell (or indeed give a shit).

Which immediately reminded me of the number of times I have heard "As a parent ..." or "Did I tell you I'm vegan ?"

I have no idea what you are talking about, care to elaborate?

It's a riff on the old joke, "how do you know when someone is vegan?"

It's a radio comedy panel show - a panelist (who I'd never heard of) was trying to get a cheer from the audience by announcing they were a transwoman - audience response was silence. I was initially confused as I heard him saying traMs woman and was wondering where still employed conductors on trams.
