How is this any different to Spinal Tap's 'Smell The Glove' album cover?
Spinal Tap was a very funny and ridiculous spoof 1980s rockumentary that took the piss out of the excesses of the rock and metal music scene. The band were the joke. Repeatedly. At one point the record company refuses the band's album cover because it's a woman on all fours on a leash sniffing a black glove a male has extended infront of her face. The record company rep explains it's offensive and sexist.
The viewer never actually gets to see the album cover, only hear the rep describe it as the reason for rejection. Yet when I saw the Glamour Magazine picture, it's all I could think of. Smell the Glove! What once was a biting parody of the very worst excesses has now become stunning and brave new world.

One is self aware taking the piss, making the audience laugh, making a critical point with humour, the band are the butt of all the jokes. The other is serious and earnest, utterly devoid of any awareness at all.
It's utterly incredible, mind boggling.

As so often in Spinal Tap, it wasn't even a spoof; some of us remember the 1980 Scorpions album Animal Magnetism.

But Scorpions never pretended to be anything other than a bunch of sexist blokes. If you made Spinal Tap now, the joke would be in them earnestly explaining why the cover is empowering.

That probably isn't their most shocking cover. The easily shocked would be well advised not to look into that band.

Wikipedia got blocked for a while because the Internet Watch Foundation decided that the cover art for the "Virgin Killers" album depicted child sexual abuse (to save you looking: a photo of a naked prepubescent girl with glass laid over the photo and the glass cracked to obscure her vulva. The girl wasn't to my knowledge mistreated, but IWF decided that the nudity was obscene.) and Wikipedia had a low-res copy of it on the album's page.

That football picture is disguised BDSM. I recognise a D/s dynamic when I see it.

Having just watched the Karla Mantilla webinar linked in another thread, I took a guess that Gaia Laidler, Club Chair and boot-licker, is a lesbian.

According to the Glamour article, the "Goal Diggers" include seven lesbians so there is fair chance that guess is correct.

According to LinkedIn, Gaia was a Civil Engineering student at Cambridge University and she runs "an informal Queer network" - "we are unstructured - a collective of female and non-binary engineers supporting each other and taking an intersectional approach to challenging gender inequality in the built environment".
