I thought this might be worth a thread.
From the article:
“I did not support the idea that her image should be removed to avoid deterring men from using the scheme.”
She disagreed use of a female safeguarding figure might prevent men from seeking help.
“Removing her weakened the campaign’s identity and grounding in women’s safety. My input on this was not taken on board,” she added.
“I do not recognise the CIC [Community Interest Company] as the originator or owner of the initiative, and I now feel it necessary to clarify my position publicly.
“A new Ask for Angela charity is being established to ensure the initiative continues in line with its original purpose, values and safeguarding ethos.
“In the meantime I will continue to support venues, local authorities and organisations who wish to implement Ask for Angela correctly and with integrity.”
Ask for Angela founder resigns after woman’s image removed to ‘avoid deterring men’
I don't really have anything to add except a few expletives about how anything geared towards helping women must eventually be made to centre men.
