Sara Morrison's counsel - Naomi Cunningham and her junior Dr Charlotte Elves

Sara Morrison v BFF - thread 5
Chariothorses · 19/11/2025 11:46

I agree - for all of them to forget the same things seems likely they have made a joint decision (to lie) about it. Easier that way as none of them stick out. @SlackJawedDisbeliefXY

And Sara Morrison (l) arriving with another member of her legal team this morning.

They'd probably dive into a bastardised version of post modernism and decide that words can be defined by what you feel they mean. Missing the entire point etc

Exactly this.

Language matters. The Cambridge English department was torn apart by Structuralism/Post-Structuralism back in the day. And here we are again.

Not a professor, though, as all the chairs seem to have been taken by others on this thread. Sad times.

SM has a Beira's Place bag. 😁

Today is, I think, the first suit repeat from our nattily dressed solicitor. MrC is in grey with a very subtle blue Prince of Wales check.

We are still on a break, here are some arrivals from this morning. Sara Morrisons' solicitor Mark Chambers

A lawyer called Chambers.
If he ever becomes a barrister he could have his own chambers called...

I won't argue - you're version is just as likely to be rightSmile
I just wanted to highlight the lack of recordkeeping, which is shocking given the seriousness of the case in question.

And we've seen it in other tribunals - if the aim is to punish a GC employee, who cares about keeping records of who bought the firelighters, who carried the bundles of firewood [there's a word meaning 'a bundle of firewood', but it would be a bit incendiary in this context😏], who had the box of matches....?

I think it's both

  • no one recorded the board process and discussions which is very odd in a disciplinary process. This is very odd.
  • the board and management all have amnesia on exactly the same points regarding when decision were taken....
ickky · 19/11/2025 11:52

ProfLargofesse · 19/11/2025 11:53

SlackJawedDisbeliefXY · 19/11/2025 11:41

Is it that

  • all of these witnesses have been told not to remember that they all actually got together at some point and talked out what their approach to SM was going to be (collusion)

or

  • no one wants to take responsibility for the actual decision to victimize SM
Edited

I think that they probably couched their language very vaguely during the meeting but that the least temperate of them, MD, had an idea in the moment, during that meeting, which, in my imagination goes something like this:

The paradigm being that if they don't get shot of SM or in any way defend her or offer a reasonable course of action MC will come for them too.

Board Member: So what did the employment lawyers say?
MD: That we have scoobie doo at the moment cos our contracts are all out of date.
BM: Right, we will need to get on to that ASAP
Other BM: I don't think that in itself is going to cut the mustard. What did the lawyers say we need for an i/x MD?
MD: If she'd refused to do something that is part of her job and/ or complaints and lots of em.
BM: And no complaints?
MD: Not yet.
BM: She hasn't refused to do anything?
MD: Not yet. She's being quite squirrelly and won't admit outright that she is transphobic. It's annoying AF.

BM: Any events coming up? Wink wink.
MD: Well, now you mention it I've been thinking FOR AGES about using the Bigly Screen at Pride and if I do the comms right it could really put the cat amongst the pigeons.
BM: I have no idea what you mean by that. Don't tell me what you mean by that but an event at Pride does seem like something we'd do. Isn't it a bit late.
MD: Nah, leave it with me.\

etc etc

Just a reminder that is totally my imagination.

I recently read your paper on the application of the anchovy - your primary sources seemed a little fishy to me

On the application of anchovy my position is that I am firmly against it. Mr Veg, however is in opposition to my stance.

Brief break. And a lovely poster has lent me a charger.

Word of the day is 'concern'. Lisa B d'S is very careful in her answers. And uses Pratchett's troll counting system of '1, 2 many'.

Or even "one, two, skip a few, many, very many, a HUNDRED!"

Justabaker · 19/11/2025 11:55

Cracking stuff all and I agree NC is on fire. 'We'll come back to that later' = I'm saving that one. It's a corker.

I've been absent for a couple of dates (lurking) as I was working on this. We at TT were disturbed - concerned even - when H Webberley starting doing media rounds to promote Gender GP USA. So, we went back to the beginning of TT time and pulled this together. Imperfect but we are revising and correcting in real time.

Tribunal Tweets was formed in 2021 to report on the Medical Practitioners Tribunal (MPT) proceedings against Helen Webberley. We have archived our coverage from those proceedings and made it available on our Substack.

It's the lack of basic record keeping that I don't understand about these arty folx.

If I don't talk to somebody on the phone several times/day/week it is fairly simple to go back to look at the dates when I did.

"Lots" tends to be more than a dozen in my book (unless in the context of party food that the family have scoffed before guests arrive).
"Several" is at least 5 or 6.

Is it all Mark Cousin's fault?

Not all arty folk, the freelancers I know are meticulous, they have to be, it's precarious.
People who have actual jobs in arts admin, and paid holidays etc wouldn't have jobs without the often freelance artists, who rarely have any kind of security at all and have to be really good at keeping on top of things and being decent communicators if they want to even have a sniff at succeeding at it.

Saw it this morning and retweeted it earlier. Great work and some history of how it all happened.

AnnaMagnani · 19/11/2025 11:58

The lack of record keeping is not surprising me as BFF seems to have run entirely on the basis of having chats with your mates, and telling each other everything is fabulous regardless of the shitness of the work.

We used to live the kind of area where the neighbours had office jobs, and my father didn't. He used to carry his sandwiches to work in an otherwise empty briefcase Smile

ProfPerfectlySoftButter · 19/11/2025 11:59

I'd wondered what prompted Tribunal Tweets to form. I'll take a read tomorrow if it does turn out to be a submissions drafting day.
