Good for them. The sport I used to be heavily involved in isn’t quite there yet, so I will donate.

I love that this is being formed…

I also love that there are male and female sports celebrities involved, clearly saying that this is a society issue - that impacts all society (by impacting women we distort our society as a whole) - and that needs to be fixed by all of society… while still being 100% about and focused on women’s needs in sport…

time for men to also stand up and support it - not take it over, not make it about men, but be a part of putting right what men have made wrong… so time to call all men to financially support it and to open doors / stand back and let them out right what has been destroyed over the years…

there are so many aspects to this - not just men playing in women’s teams - but also the inequity of how young girls are offered sport which makes them drop out - I used to coach tennis and the club I was at had a no loo policy and locked changing rooms - the girls stopped playing after the age of 12ish - reversing that policy and putting the girls group on the court by the loos with an agreement that they could use them whenever needed without having to explain to the male coaches… transformed that group and built a thriving teenage girls group…

so many issues to tackle and an exciting driven set of people at the helm

Another fantastic article by Oliver Brown. Along with Sharon Davies he's been one of our best champions'.

I just came on to see if this had been shared. It's such good news. I'm the least sporty person ever and will happily donate to this, if required, despite not knowing my high jump from my javelin. I heard Tracey speak at the Battle of Ideas last month & love her story - not doing well at all at school, going off to Greece and becoming a ship's cook, then getting into sailing and achieving what she has achieved. (Love Sharron too).

A fantastic article, thanks OP. I didn't realise Oliver brown wrote for the Telegraph, I though he was at the Guardian. Good to read the comments as well.

Sharron is amazing. Like so many brave and brilliant women who support other women, she sets everything out so clearly. Thank you for this campaign, Sharron and Tracy.

I don't know if the Telegraph gift shares expire like the Times ones do so, jic

Really good article. Sharron Davies's book, Unfair Play, is well worth a read if you are of sportier mind, as well. The IOC's disdain for women's sport is a given throughout the existence of the Olympics; the Paris boxing disgrace is just the latest example.
More power to the Women's Sports Union!

I've joined with lifetime membership, I had a small windfall this month so spent it on this!
