MD “we getting tortured by all sorts of headcases… stopped by people in the street and harassed online… so I protected my staff"

Assuming Nick meant 'contacted' instead of 'tortured', I wonder which flavour of "headcases" and "harassers" MD was referring to when she said this.

Edited

No, 'tortured' is in use in NI to mean getting pestered by, eg you can be tortured by your child constantly asking for a snack etc.

whilst I wait for NW to get online again, I'm pleased that I got the job with the women's rights org :) so my professorship in sleuthing / trawling FWR came to good use.

I think we are all aware of certain things from MD’s testimony.

Having been in charge of BFF for decades she has got used to having things her own way.

She is used to manipulating information to the board so that she gets her own way.

In essence she is used to using some aspects of coercive control within her position of professional authority and that she seems to be able to do that both up and down the hierarchy. (Love-bombing is evident here too).

SM has taken some of that control away and the process of ET is exposing how MD has reacted to that. I doubt her working behaviour has ever attracted scrutiny of any shape or form before.

She can’t contain her outrage that a small arts organisation, and her in particular, isn’t somehow exempt from employment law and fair practice.

She genuinely believes that having manipulated the situation to try and subvert legal process to pursue the end MC desired that she is not lying in response to NC because to her these manipulations are entirely within her authority as she sees it, further enhanced by MCs own manipulations of her.

The panel will have to perform significant gymnastics if they want to view her as a credible witness.

NC and CE are such a talent at uncovering such dastardly and underhand behaviour.

This all day and forever

And on the public purse

I just keep thinking how odd it would be to reply to a message along the lines of:
Hey, all a bit short notice but shall we have a bit of a do? Break out the big screen? I'm thinking bean bags/pick a film/no subtitles as we might be hungover? Thoughts on what we watch?
Michele

With:
Sara is a great big meanie.
X5 paragraphs
Ruth

A normal response is:
“Thanks Michele. Sounds exciting. I'll share this with our organising group in Rainbow Refugees. Our group
email address is [gives email.]
Take care
Catherine”

There is a missing input meaning the SAR can't have been replied to comprehensively... Anyone know if there's a 'decoy' response that Michele receives from Outburst which answers thoughts on the screening?

And also the oddness around providing the password to the work email account SM asked for. Wouldn't the normally helpful person - especially someone claiming responsibility for IT - check straight away to see someone has received it/there is evidence that they are back in the system or there is a functional OOO in play rather than waiting 3 or 4 months and then obfuscate/bury it?

Oh wow, I had no idea, thanks very much for explaining. I'd blundered full steam into the Darlington case thread over a misspelling in a tweet so tried to err on the side of caution this time - in error, as it turns out!

She doesn’t get book references

She doesn’t get film references

She doesn’t understand difference between gender critical and transphobia

Tell me Michelle - is there anything you do understand?

She's Laurence McKeowns's attack dog. Does what she's told, has the right political slant and contacts, and the added bonus of the LGBTQI+++ family and friend associations to tick the right boxes when applying for grants.

Sara is the one with the film knowledge - which is far broader than MD and her Encanto on bean bags for the hungover on a Sunday off Union Street.
Edited to add which McKeown I mean.

Yes, and I think this is why Naomi mentioned the relationship history between Michele and Ruth and their partner in common.

This all day and forever

And on the public purse

Absolutely

They're so so far into it they can't see any of it.

A bit like DB and her decades of fraudulent misrepresention

Maybe one day, very far hence, a penny will drop

ickky · 18/11/2025 16:10

NC the claim of the case is discrim for political belief - against SM for her GC views - and her 16 April speech. That’s why you’re giving evidence
MD I’m giving evidence because SM has come up with some “flimsy notions” - we were not
disciplining her, we were working actively to get her back into her role in the office

I am so pleased to see that the word Notions has finally been mentioned.

It is an Irish tribunal after all.

It seems Sara's were flimsy though.

Are Irish “notions” anything like Darlington “concerns”?

ickky · 18/11/2025 16:15

I think they are one and the same, but couldn't possibly say how many Notions would make a grievance.

moto748e · 18/11/2025 16:15

So I'd like to know where you got the notion

From NW

and that is why I decided to look into it.’”
NC so you didn’t review any documentary evidence
KP it’s what she told me
NC so you relied on what MD told you

KP yes
NC you didn’t get any info from Bethany O’Neill
KP no
NC and the truth is it didn’t matter because you knew you weren’t the decision makers in this process.

KP we provide HR services
NC there were four complaints - 2 from outburst arts but no complaints from the women’s sector
KP no
NC and no evidence on damage to rep

NC and no evidence on damage to rep
KP soc med
NC and there was no evidence of damage to commercial success - you weren’t really in a position to interrogate the reason for the iv as you didn’t have any evidence beyond what MD told you

KP and SM and the WS from Moyra Lock etc
NC SM could not know the process
KP she didn’t engage, she didn’t attend the iv

NC stepping back the decision making process about how she is going to be investigated - she’s not going to know anything about
KP seems to agree [she’s gone v quiet]

[NC takes her to her email of 13 Dec 2023 to Lisa Barros D’Sa (LBD)]
NC is there anything there that strikes you as misleading
KP no I’m happy with it
