We could share it out and switch it about, I'm easy on the detail. I quite fancy Dame, or Rvd to give an air of spiritual superiority maybe.

@boiledbeetle Could chose something fitting - alliteration maybe? Can you be the Blessed Boiled Beetle (non)officially?

The Blessed Bountiful and Beloved Boiledbeetle

I could call you Rvd and occasionally your holiness if you like?

Anyone around to c&p from Nick?

Me! Just catching up - you lot can talk!

Had a dental appointment this morning.

I'll C&P the whole thread in a few minutes' time.

Madcats · 17/11/2025 13:10

Is McKeown a reasonably common NI surname? BFF's Tresurer is Laurence McKeown (former Maze prison hunger-striker).

I suspect NC and CE had a fair few helpful emails over the weekend to help strengthen whatever case they might be trying to make.

Emilesgran · 17/11/2025 13:03

That sounds quite possible doesn't it?
I'd say they've spent the weekend building a case on McKeown and/or the judge: Since you wonderful ladies here don't seem to have found much real dirt on McKeown, could it be the judge? I'm still sceptical about the claim that Boyd had to run like a gazelle to the judge about her pain, and also, if Boyd has been faking her CV, what does that say about the recruitment process for the tribunal? Did the judge really not know - and shouldn't she have?

Oh yes, also the Professor who possibly isn't...yet more incompetentence.

We are used to the witnesses bring a shower, usually the panel have passed muster. (Although Jane Russell was given far too much complaining air time.)

Maybe NC is just asking for a competent panel who are trustworthy and know the law.

lcakethereforeIam · 17/11/2025 13:11

I'm St. Cake. My feast day is 26th November. So you've got time to plan for it.

Is it just me who keeps reading "BFF" in tweets as best friend forever?

Nope, me too.

MLF became Male Leery Friend at the point SC started on the Darlington nurses.

The tribunal judge has directed that in the interests of open justice the recusal application will be heard at 1.30pm today. I will live tweet and should be given access to the written application and response.

20 minutes to go.

Is he tweeting this, or are you reading over his shoulder?

He was watching the video in the waiting room, sound on so we could all follow.

Prob can't give details of the next bit but SM's solicitor has just shown her a bundle of papers that has an additional revelation. Not about the panel.

The Blessed Bountiful and Beloved Boiledbeetle

Sounds like a plan.

I would like the added sprinkle of deference, just when being introduced at a live talk or recorded for a YouTube piece say, so that I can humbly emit a twinkly laugh and bat away your respect for my positions.

(I keep cringing and wondering how the woman introducing DB on that video feels now. "Her CV is so impressive and almost scary to someone just starting out like me now. I would love to get to where she has one day") (not verbatim)

@SexRealistic if you start the next thread, please add the link to the summary.

DOn't worry - its one of their standing jokes not an actual school.

St Cake's School is an imaginary public school, run by Mr R. J. Kipling (BA, Leicester). The headmaster's name is part of the joke regarding the name "St Cake's", in reference to Mr Kipling cakes. Articles featuring the school parody the "Court and Social" columns of The Times and The Daily Telegraph, and the traditions and customs of the public school system. The school’s motto is Quis paget entrat (“He who pays gets in”),

Perhaps not that one, but there are a lot of new names on these threads, that i haven't seen on any of the other tribunal threads or other FWR threads. Maybe that is the regional aspect, but slightly odd.

I think it’s fair to say that there are an awful lot of us who have held the same views as the experts who are posting on here but don’t have the legal or the technical knowledge to feel confident in posting in the public domain. That doesn’t mean that we are not interested in the wrongs of the world just that we don’t have the knowledge to provide anything other than moral support. These threads are invaluable because they give us the confidence to know that the views that we have are not weird and unpleasant. They do in fact follow the law. Thank you to all the experts who are educating the rest of us and one day some of us would hope to stand alongside you and be able to knowledgeably support our peers and colleagues.

It's not an unusual name: Catholic only, AFAIAA, but not all McKeown's will be related:
It's from Mac Eoghain / Mac Eoin ("Son of "Son of Eoghan/Eoin") which are two different and quite common first names: Eoghan is usually anglicised as Eugene and Eoin is Yohannes/John etc)

Though given the Respondent’s barrister is not yet in the building we may well not be starting at 1.30pm
