Gender identity at COP30 in the Guardian

I see gender identity discussions are taking a prominent place in the COP 30 conference, according to this morning's Guardian.

I hope I'm not duplicating anyone else's thread on this, but I couldn't spot one.

So it's not just our own Green Party that's been overtaken by these issues. All that private jet fuel and deforestation for COP30 and this is how it ends up!?

Row over definition of ‘gender’ hangs over Cop30 plans to support women

Advocates say conservative states’ push to define gender as ‘biological sex’ would backslide on decade-old language within the UN

I see also that a focus on 'biological sex' makes you a 'hardline conservative', apparently. Ooer . . .

I was a member of our local climate action group (not related to the Green Party). Then I started getting invitations to meetings about gender woo and how to take action. Then the whole thing got mired in ‘we can’t address climate issues until we’ve addressed gender issues’

I left

Sort of hoped that things would be better focused at an international level, but obviously not. It’s depressing to see any drive for environmental improvement swallowed up in the omnicause

@Dragonasaurus

Disappointing but unsurprising. Genderwoo invariably destroys everything it touches.

Yes, I had rather hoped for some serious discussion of, you know, stuff like good environmental stewardship, reducing the human environmental burden, conservation, emissions controls, international co-operation on sustainability initiatives. No, its got to be about gender identity politics, of course!

I am so disappointed in the environmental movement and it makes me question the motives of so many of those involved down the years. Did they ever really care about the planet? Was it only ever about some middle class people trying to be provocative and shock the public (let’s throw baked beans at famous works of art/ climb on a tube train and stop people going to work). And now that environmentalism has become much more widespread they have to find new ways to stick two fingers up at the general public, regardless of who gets trampled underfoot.
