Terrible article that conflates sex and gender throughout, and foregrounds activists who say it’s only worth helping women and girls if that includes men

Row over definition of ‘gender’ hangs over Cop30 plans to support women

Advocates say conservative states’ push to define gender as ‘biological sex’ would backslide on decade-old language within the UN

Talk about luxury beliefs.Hmm

I just read that. Absolutely staggering. It's not that complicated. All they need to do is acknowledge that sex exists. The last section where they completely pretend that women objecting to the word 'gender means that they do not care about the concept of gender impacts us, is just an exercise in gaslighting.
The sheer stupidity of it.

Soooooo the guardian has run a story to blame women for impeding climate change solutions by wanting to stick to the definition of women everyone had until 10 minutes ago????

There is literally no barrel the guardian can't scrape in order to blame women.

Doubly idiotic because in the Global South generally the trans issue isn't even a gleam in an activist's eye. Even in India, which has had hijra for centuries (millenia?), suddenly applying Stonewallian concepts of gender inclusiveness in, say, cyclone shelters would lead to trauma, chaos, and unusable useless! shelters.

[Gaa. I need m-dashes. "Uselss" wasn't supposed to be a strikeout.]

It really is a terrible article. Of COURSE rows over the definition of woman hamstrings the conference's ability to actually focus on climate change and women's rights. But it is the disruptors and fantasists who want to subvert a realistic definition of 'woman' that are responsible for this distraction, not those holding out for the term 'woman' to mean 'woman'.

Fucking facile ideologists, fucking up anything they can (including the climate and the rights of vulnerable women in countries that screw them over on account of their SEX) in order to prioritise the whining of a few over-privileged middle-class people in developed countries. Fuck off, Guardian. NOW is the moment to stop allowing your journalists to behave like this.
